Christmas Stitching

Hello dear readers.......we have some festive photos today of things i've been making.....

.....first is this big heart made with red white and green fabrics for a christmas feel.......

.........the pattern is in my etsy shop link in sidebar.......as is the pentagon ball pattern below......

.............shown here on a stack of christmas quilts ..........

......the pentagon ball can be sewn by hand or machine and is a good way to use up favourite scraps....

...........here are lots of my cross stitch seed packet designs.......

..........i've been storing them in a wooden seedling tray.........they make cute gifts......

.........you can also mat the design on card stock to make little postcards or to hang as bunting......

..........last week i took this picture of actual seed packets at the botanical gardens shop.......love the little sign........

..........it's almost time to get out all the festive decorations......just a few things are appearing now......the main decorating happens here after my hubby's birthday at the end of november.......

Red and Green

Hello again lovely readers......it's a cosy late afternoon where i'm writing this on a computer here in my studio in my little corner of the uk.......the lights are on and dusk is falling outside.......we have lots of warm and cosy pictures to share today.....

......this is my christmas version of my vintage charm quilt.......

..........here are some close ups along with my new fabric toadstool..........

...........the quilt is made from different collections of fabric charm packs which i like to mix up together....i rarely work from just one fabric line........many of these prints are from moda and there is some lewis and irene and tilda fabric in there too.......as with all my charm quilts i added rose appliqués to the patchwork.....

..........next we have a little red and white postage stamp pincushion with a poppy button from hobby craft stores.........

...........the poppy buttons are nicely designed, and come in several sizes.......i used this little poppy pinnie to commemorate this year's remembrance day...........

.........here it is on a cosy quilt stack with a stripy candle and vintage spool.........

...........getting out the decorations i've made in previous years and making some new ones......

............green trees and red trees made from my fabric button trees pattern.......(all the patterns mentioned here can be found in my etsy shop link in sidebar).......

..........and this little green fabric bird decorated with beads and ribbon is another little festive make too.....

.........it's almost time to get out the festive china and heres my holly mug matching my charm quilt......

Festive Sewing

Hello again dear readers.......here's mabel the big bunny and some cosy festive sewing pictures to share......

.........i used sweet belle and boo christmas fabrics to make a festive tumbler cushion.......

........this fabric is called christmas fairground and it is perfect for fussy cutting........

......this is the tumbler patchwork before quilting........

.........a festive little quilt stack this week .........with dried orange slices, candles and toadstools.....

.....and a cute little holly jug from gisela graham........

........the quilt on the top of the stack is my xmas charm quilt also in the picture below......the tumbler cushion pattern, big bunny pattern, big bunny spring cardigan knitting pattern and charm quilt pattern are all in my etsy shop link in sidebar....

....this week we visited our favourite local botanic garden and saw these colourful leaves strewn on the grass there.....

.....it made me think of the famous camus quote which i've always found very apt at this time of year........'autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower'....these pretty leaves really do look like flowers to me........

..........more autumnal shades in the trees reflected in the pond below........it was a perfect sunny bright autumn day.......

Trees

Hello again lovely readers.......this week's post was inspired by trees..........both fabric and real ones.....

.......this is the start of a new version of my peppermint trees quilt which i made last year (pattern in my etsy shop link in sidebar).....

..........this time it is more colourful and decorative with red and pink trees as well as green ones......

....it's an easy make using machine appliqué and bondaweb.......

......soon put together and ready for some peaceful evening hand quilting........

............here's the flimsy (quilt top) hanging up in my sewing room ready for making the quilt sandwich.....

..........and with the sun shining on it.........below is the backing fabric i chose.........

...........and now some real trees on a walk in our nearby woods..........

..........lots of perfect bracket fungus........

...........and beautifully coloured leaves..........a design inspiration for sure.........

........and finally this week's quilt stack with a patchwork bird on top........cosy and squishy and all ready for these chilly november nights..............
