Lake District Days
Here i am again dear readers......refreshed from a very lovely break in the beautiful lake district.....
.........the scenery was more wonderful than ever and the bluebell woods were breathtaking....
.........we stayed in a cosy cottage and took my cottage garden quilt with us seen here on the window seat above........while below is another special cottage......dove cottage where the poet wordsworth and his sister dorothy lived......i've always loved dorothy's journals and am re reading them at the moment.....
..........inside the cottage, glimpses of the wordsworths' family and creative life........
..........we also visited hill top, beatrix potter's cosy home which we have been to many times before.....
........always a special place to see and this time my own bunny lettuce came along too.......
..........pictured in beatrix potter's actual kitchen garden with the watering can.....she was rather thrilled....
..........some of my treasured beatrix potter books which have helped inspire my designing and love of rabbits for many years........along with the tiny bunny....(the fabric rabbit patterns can be found in my etsy shop).....below is the view up the garden path at hill top......the white wisteria around the cottage looked amazing...you can see it better in the picture above.....
...........we walked a lot and really enjoyed it.....seeing the rivers, becks and waterfalls, the green foliage, tiny flowers and mosses was just so peaceful and beautiful.......below is skelwith bridge.......
.........the picture with words below is a sign at dove cottage which i wanted to capture......
........one more pretty view of rydal water sparkling in the late afternoon sunshine.......
.....thank you for dropping in to see me here dear readers, and for the kind comments you leave me....it's always so lovely to hear from you.....now i'm back i'm busy sewing again and making things for summer and the jubilee and working in my garden....i hope you are having happy busy times too and enjoying your days.......take care lovelies.........love and peace...........back soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Flower Pots
Hello dear readers......here is my new and freshly finished flower pots quilt top in a vintage style this time.....
........the original was made in bright fresh colours and i wanted to try it in these softer, more antique feel fabrics.....which i also love.....
.........the flowers of my blooming bellis daisy are always an inspiration.......
..........the fabrics are french general jardin de fleurs.........i used charm packs and also bought a jellyroll to create the borders.......lots left for other pretty projects......as usual i popped in a few tilda fabrics too....i always like to mix fabric lines up a bit....the backing fabrics are from my stash....a basket full of low volume prints that i often add to.....
.........it was fun to make this appliqué quilt, and the pattern is in my etsy shop link in sidebar.......
.........below are some flower pots in my greenhouse growing sweetpea seedlings which have now been planted out.......
...........have been loving all the bluebells and here is a basket full.......
.........a little view of spring flowers, self seeded feverfew in a big pot, and the beehive composter....
.........and on a little wall lots more flower pots including my tulip pot.......
...........i have always found flowers a true joy to see.......close ups of the perfect shapes and colours always delight me....these are auriculas, violas and bellis daisies in the greenhouse this week......
.........and along with this week's quilt stack is a green glass vase of garden grown flowers.......
...........thank you so much for dropping by to my little bit of blogland.......it's always a pleasure to have your visits and to read your kind comments........i will be taking a little blog break next week as we will be on holiday in the country for a few days......but will be back the following week as usual.......and you can still find me on instagram if you'd like to.......wishing you a happy time in the meantime lovelies....take care..........peace and love ..............back soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
