Hello everyone.....summer has returned to our little patch this week....and i finished this nautical inspired lucky fish quilt too.....
........i loved sewing this and it was quick to put together though i lingered over the hand quilting and binding.....so it has been a work in progress for quite a long time....
.........it's very soft and snuggly....perfect for chilly beachy august evenings.........
.........the little fish are appliquéd and the template is included in the pattern which is available now in my etsy shop link in sidebar......
........below is a little bit of up cycling......a garden folding plant stand painted and recycled to use as a quilt ladder.....and displaying some red and white quilts this week too.....
......cannot have too many quilts....and cannot have too many red and white ones....must sew another one soon....
..........red and white china always appeals to me too....this is the red and white greengate jug that i love.....
.......last week we bought a new floribunda rose with a delicious perfume.....here it is against the white picket fence.....
.....we also went on a lovely picnic and outing to errdig country house and park in north wales.....
.........where we saw these fascinating red and white dahlias........looking like they had been partly painted....or made from two colours of crepe paper......
.........there were lots of other lovely flower pictures taken too but i'll show you those another time....
.....today is warm and sunny again and it will soon be time for a cup of tea in the garden......thank you for dropping by dear readers and for the very kind comments you leave...it's always a pleasure to hear from you.......wishing you a happy week ahead......stay well and take care lovelies.......back soon xxxxxxxxxxx

.........and one of the big dahlias we managed to grow......
...........in the pink for this week's quilt stack........
...........and one more picture of a big dahlia flower sent to you with love.........
..........the garden is a colourful tangle of sweet peas, sunflowers, dahlias, asters and perennials.....on sunny warm days it is drowsy with bees and on rainy days the flowers are covered in raindrops and really perk up......

August Days
The august days are flying by....hope you are enjoying this summer month dear readers....
..........here is the brass bed with some of my vintage charm quilts......i always love to see patchwork quilts on this bed.....
............it was chilly and rainy here a week ago and we were glad of our cosy quilts.....
......it's been much more summery though most of this week........
..........i made a little sewing set using the gorgeous handcraft material fabric by yuwa which i bought from rose garden patchwork.....there is a needle book, a pincushion and a scissor keep and it was fun to fussy cut the fabric to make these...... (pattern in my etsy shop link in sidebar)......
........i made the needle book pages using spotty red felt ..........
........i enjoyed using some of my collection of old haberdashery items as props in these pictures.....
...........daisies on the fabric....and daisies in the garden.......so many flowering this year and i love their happy faces......
.........plenty of butterflies in our garden too...mainly cabbage whites..... here is a beautiful peacock butterfly exactly where you would expect to find it.....on the buddleia or butterfly bush....
.....close to our home is the local common where we love to walk, and have all our lives.....i've always loved the colour of the heather since childhood....my husband took this picture which captures the colours so well........
..........other walks this week were beside the sea.......beautiful fresh sea air and warm sunshine made it very pleasant......lots of seabirds here and the remains of a jetty from long ago when this quiet little bit of the coast was more important for seafarers.........
.......thank you for dropping by to share a bit of my little world lovely readers......and thank you for the kind comments you leave, it's always so nice to hear from you......hope you are enjoying happy, crafty times and that you are keeping well.........take care lovelies........back soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Summer Hearts and Flowers
Happy august dear blog friends......here is my much loved heartstrings quilt having its turn to be photographed on the garden washing line between the trees......(we plan to add little videos of all the quilts blowing on the line to our etsy shop pictures).....
.......the backing of this quilt is a big blue and white floral print.......
.........and here is my new blue garden trug.....lovely to use and until it rained today i've been doing lots of gardening this week.....
..........crumpled quilt shots are my fave.......below are the cornflowers growing so prettily.....
.........the beehive in the background is a compost bin and it works well (though slowly)....
.........a posy of cornflowers always reminds me of childhood.......
.........i loved the shapes and the colours then...and still do......
...........one day last week was world embroidery day, so i photographed some of my embroidered pincushions for it......(btw the heartstrings quilt pattern and all these pincushions patterns are in my etsy shop link in sidebar)........
.........a quilt stack on my sewing table, with my fun cath kidston fish and chips mug.......
..........some new patchwork in progress now......vintage style....
..........and another lovely cath kidston mug which was a birthday gift from my lovely daughter sarah....
...........thank you for joining me here for a little visit.......and for your sweet comments....so great to hear from you wherever you are, and lovely to hear about your flowers and crafts too....wishing you all a happy week ahead with sunny days, flowers and crafty times......take care lovelies.....back soon xxxxxxxxxxxx
