Sweetpeas and Strawberries

Hello dear readers.......as we near the very end of the beautiful month of june here i am with lots of colourful pictures to share....
.....so happy to pick the first bunch of sweetpeas of the summer.......love this old fashioned mix of bright pastel colours too.......
..........on my travels recently i found some pretty coloured candles including this bright sweetpea pink one.....below are some of the garden sweetpeas merrily growing up the canes.......
...........and we are enjoying strawberries alll the time too......though not necessarily home grown ones ;)
...........here's a favourite summer quilt...the strawberry hearts quilt........the pattern for this is in my etsy shop link in sidebar.......
..........lots of blues, pinks, white and red for this quilt and red decorative stitching round the squares.....
...........a little dottie drawstring bag made from fruit label fabric.......
..........and some fabric strawberries.......patterns in my etsy shop as before......
...........shiny red (real) strawberries on a vintage charm quilt........
.........and in the garden some everlasting sweetpeas.....no scent but growing so strongly and such pretty deep pink flowers....

Flower Gardens

Hello again lovely readers......back today with some flowery pictures.....
.........garden flowers in a flowery jug, with flowery quilts.........so much floral love......
..........the little vintage mustard pot here has my first sweet pea posy of the year.........
.........i made a flowery vintage tote bag recently from tilda floral scraps.........
.........here it is on the white picket fence with the cottage garden flowers peeking through.....a very useful bag as well as being pretty......the vintage tote bag pattern is in my etsy shop link in sidebar......
.........when we were in suffolk we visited the gorgeous helmingham hall gardens......the hall dates back to 1480 and has a moat and two drawbridges, both have been pulled up every night since 1510......

..........the gardens were a lovely mix of formal but natural........so many pretty vistas and surprises as we wandered round......
...........and a very peaceful historic atmosphere........
...........blue skies and sunshine helped........and the scent of honeysuckle and roses on the air.....
............home again now and we found all the roses in flower in our own garden.....here's the potting shed looking engulfed by candy pink roses........
......and on the cottage garden arch these sweet scented white climbing roses in full flower....

Postcards from Suffolk

Hello again dear readers.......back here again to share with you some pictures from our little holiday in suffolk last week......i took my stargazer quilt and got some pictures among the boats at aldeburgh.....the pattern for this quilt is in my etsy shop link in sidebar.....
.....we love exploring the british coastline but have never been to suffolk before......
....we visited southwold and aldeburgh, walberswick and thorpeness, saw sutton hoo and other places of interest.....the pictures of the fishing boats are from aldeburgh..... 
........some of my little fish inspired by other seaside visits......the pattern for these is in my etsy shop link in sidebar....
.....so many pretty seaside cottages......love the colours of the one below.....
........and this one too.....gorgeous cottage garden.....
.........we stayed in the cottage below, in the countryside......it was very pretty and had some very low doorways........
.........the view all around was of green fields of crops and blue skies......
.......and there were scented roses round the door.........
......it was interesting to see more of the east coast (we live on the north west coast) and to explore places we have only heard about.....
......we're both always very happy beside the sea........hope you've enjoyed my suffolk scenes today.....i might include a few more pictures in future posts too.........

Garden Days

Hello lovely blog friends...here i am again after another sunny, flowery week......above you can see our *side door* roses coming into bloom now.........
.........and the bright candy pink rose in front of the potting shed is also opening......
.....every year i take a picture of the potting shed at this time with the bright pink roses and often a quilt....this time it is the flowery version of my vintage log cabin quilt (pattern in my etsy shop link in sidebar)....
.........below is a posy of roses with the sweetest scent picked for my granddaughter daisy's 13th birthday.....she is such a sweetie and my daughter organised  a lovely party for her to celebrate being a teen......
.........below a pic my daughter sent of the roses and party area with pink balloon arch :).......
..........another arch now....this is the entrance to the beautiful laundry garden in denbigh, north wales.....it was open for charity for the national gardens scheme last weekend and we went to see it......
.....it was so beautiful....and a warm sunny day too, perfect for wandering round and enjoying all the lovely planting and structures.........below is a bit of the herbaceous border.......
........and masses of roses and alliums outside the tearoom.......tea was delicious with homemade cakes and proper tea in china cups.......such a happy atmosphere.......
...........i love a walled garden so much.....(when i was a small child we lived in a victorian house with a walled garden and i can still remember every detail of it now)......the laundry garden is amazing as it feels very old and established but has been created in recent years....such a labour of love.......
.........a few more flowers now on my gather the flowers quilt hanging on the little quilt cupboard for this week's quilt stack........
...........we are packing our suitcases tonight ready to go on holiday tomorrow to the seaside, staying in a cottage in the english countryside and exploring part of the coast we've never been to before.......so i'll be taking a little blog break next week but will share pictures when i get back.......
