Beside the Sea

Hello again dear readers and welcome to my (seasidey) little bit of blogland today......
.........where i am sharing lots of shades of blue and seaside images......always a big inspiration for me.....all through my childhood we went to devon and cornwall every summer for two weeks......happy memories, and such an interest in the seaside for me ever since.......above are some seaside quilts, little fish, shells and beach huts.......
..........the beach huts cross stitch pattern is now in my etsy shop link in sidebar........
..........and so is the pattern for this traditional blue and white irish chain variant quilt........
..........this is my penman point quilt named for one of my favourite coastal spots on anglesey, but pictured here at hoylake beach which is much nearer to where we live.......
.........these simple two colour quilts are favourites of mine.....i love that they are such traditional patchwork yet look wonderful in modern interiors, with a contemporary graphic feel.........
......in this version i swapped the white for the coloured for a striking and different effect from the usual irish chain quilt pattern layout........
...........boats against a blue sky, snapped on a beach walk this week........
...........taken looking up at the sailing club boatyard where my hubby keeps his sailboat in the winter (at the moment it is moored out on the tide as he sails it regularly in the summer).......
............meanwhile in the cottage garden there are beautiful blue flowers.......
............i liberally sprinkled seeds of love-in-a-mist (or nigella)........i love these flowers and hope they self seed for next year.........
.....hope you are well and happy lovely readers....thanks for visiting and for your kind comments and messages.........wishing you a wonderful week ahead with sun shine and crafty inspirations......take care lovelies.................back soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Happy August

Hello again lovely readers......happy august......even though the weather here isn't that summery we have some bright cheerful pictures this week anyway.......
......first is a new quilt called the nine patch on point quilt......i really love a nine patch quilt.......
.....this one used lots of pretty colourful japanese florals and some cute novelty prints with white solid for contrast.....
...........the backing is pink gingham and the binding green and white stripes.....
........hubby and i had a little outing to chester at the weekend......we walked round the town, through the park, photographed the ruins and the flowers......
.........and along the river.......
........where we had scones and coffee at table by the river bank, watching the boats come and go.....
........and in our garden the dahlias keep on growing.......
..........maybe next year we'll actually plant a dahlia bed and add some more pretty kinds......
.........they fascinate me with their big blooms and bright colours....have never grown them until the past couple of years........
.......here's an old favourite in our garden.....the pink day lilies.....they were here when we moved in and i've split them and spread them round the garden since then.......short lived but beautiful flowers.......
......thank you for popping in to see me here dear readers.......thank you too for your kind comments and messages to my weekly 'letter' to you.......hope august has started well for you and you have a happy cheery month ahead........take care lovelies...........back soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
