Summer Flower Log Cabin Quilt

Hello again dear readers.......here is my newest version of my vintage log cabin quilt.....

....made this time with scraps of pastel pink, green and blue with plenty of low volume fabrics......and the all important red centre to symbolise the hearth and home.......

.....it reminds me of a summer flower meadow........

.....and also in the flower meadow is my new poppy seed packet cross stitch design....i love designing these little seed packets and stitching them up........

.....i loved hand quilting the log cabin quilt as well, such a restful peaceful kind of evening sewing.....

......the sun came back after the snow and the weather is definitely improving now.....here's lettuce the sugar bunny sitting on a quilt stack in the sunny sewing room....

.....today is st patrick's day and we have some pretty green versions of my little houses pincushions pattern to share.....the buttons were in a big jar from hobby craft stores.....

.........the little house fabric is by moda.......

.....also for today here's a picture of my green irish chain quilt.....all the patterns for the makes shown here are in my etsy shop link in sidebar..........

.......so wonderful to see the hedges filled with flowers, leaves and fresh growth......

........and flowers in my kitchen too.....pretty gifts from a lovely friend and a bunch of cheery rainbow tulips from the supermarket too.......

Spring and Snow

Hello lovelies and welcome to my blog on this bright but snow covered day in my little corner of the uk.....

.....we need all our quilts today.......and after spring time coming along so nicely over the past couple of weeks suddenly we are having a cold snap and winter's back......

........but never mind....the sugar bunnies, like lettuce here, have put their cardies on and are enjoying some carrot cakes.......and we are making lots of spring decorations, like fabric carrots.....

.....and cross stitched seed packets.......(all patterns in my etsy shop link in sidebar).....

.....we even have a new poppy seed packet design today to brighten up the snow day....

.......below is my new rainbow quilt made from tilda scraps.....

.....it was fun to make and the lovely longarm machine quilting was done by scrapbox quilting......

.........below is my hand quilted spring nine patch with some sweet spring flowers....

........on a walk before the snow came....snowdrops in this picturesque churchyard....

.........and along the lane to the church the first blossom tree........

........ today in our garden..........a blanket of snow.......sunny though so it's beginning to thaw.....

Rainbows and Radishes

Happy March dear readers.......lots to show you today...it's been a busy week in the studio, making things and finishing things and writing things and taking photos......here is my rainbow quilt......

...........made with many scraps of beautiful tilda fabrics  which form a rainbow down the quilt......

.....the pattern for this is new in my etsy shop link in sidebar.........

.....close ups of the rainbow colours and lovely longarm machine quilting by scrapbox.quilting........

.........also new is my radish pincushion and scissor keep........a cute little design taken from an old garden alphabet chart of mine and slightly re designed.......

......love radishes and their decorative look....probably because of childhood picture books like peter rabbit....and also because i remember a beautiful sunny day in the garden as a small child, when my mother gave me my toy kitchen to play with on the grass, and a bunch of real radishes plucked from the kitchen garden.........bliss.....and they're pink too another reason why i like them :)

.........here's mabel the big bunny in her new spring cardigan with a carrot button and a bunch of fabric carrots on her lap........the little radish on the wall is the scissor keep design above, made as a fridge magnet.......it is also sweet stitched as a gift card........pattern as before in my etsy shop link in sidebar......

..........and my final finish this week is the radish seed packet design.......

......loved cross stitching this and adding it to my seed packet collection........(all are also in my etsy shop as before)..........

...........we did quite a lot of gardening this week and planted seeds in the greenhouse........

........the daffodils are blooming and there are lots of green shoots and buds too......

Inspired by Flowers

Hello dear readers.......back today with a whole bunch of flower inspired pictures and projects.....

..........starting with a new cross stitch design....this is my daisy seed packet pattern.....

.........it makes a cute ornament for spring or a sweet little pincushion for garden lovers.......the pattern can be found in my etsy shop link in sidebar........

.........flowers have always been a big inspiration for me.....as a textile student we were taught plant drawing as an essential part of designing for fabrics but i loved flowers long before that, from earliest childhood.....

........floral fabrics like the ones used on these birdies are so inspiring to me for my patchwork makes....i love how the colours look together and how pretty the different floral designs look when combined......

..........at the moment i'm especially inspired by japanese florals and by tilda floral fabrics.....

........above is my flower square pincushion and below is my work in progress vintage log cabin quilt in summer garden flower fabrics.......

...........this little cupboard in my studio is filled with flowery quilts........

..........and there is another floral bird and a flowery patchwork heart too.......

............on a walk this week we saw a bank of violets blooming......and below a colourful drift of crocus and snowdrops in the churchyard.......

..........these little birdies are made from my patchwork bird pattern in my etsy shop....this time i've added little wheels to them....(or wooden buttons)....and a string with a bell to pull them along........

Spring Things

Hello dear readers....it's a bright sunny day here and the whole week has been feeling quite spring like.....

..........and i've been sewing carrots for my spring decorations........

......i love fabric carrots and think they will be nice with the bunnies for easter.....the pattern for these is in my etsy shop link in sidebar........ 

......we had a lovely valentine's day and here is the loveliest gift....a blue and white striped cornishware mug with a tiny heart and a matching biscuiteers biscuit...such a sweet duo and perfect for me as it matches my quilt........i *might* have mentioned this to my hubby in time for valentines day......

........such a lovely time of year as the tulips in the shops are plentiful and the ones in the garden are all showing promising green shoots......

..........below is the gorgeous biscuit......how could anyone eat it??.........

...........this is my heartstrings quilt and it's not just for valentine's day.....i love heart quilts so much and am always thinking of another version to make.....the pattern for this one is also in my etsy shop.......

............on an outing this week to a nearby botanical gardens we saw drifts of crocus beneath the trees....

........and pots of tiny iris......such deep shades, and pretty markings.......

.........below are some of my kitchen bulbs and spring flowers......the scent of hyacinths here is very strong and delicious.......

...........and a few more carrots for my final spring picture..........(the orange fabrics really did come in handy after all).......off to sew a quilt now and later to tend to my greenhouse pots.......i actually did a whole afternoon's gardening in the cottage garden this week and it was lovely to see the new shoots and buds there..........
