Merry Christmas

Hello dear readers......this is a christmassy post filled with makes and decorations around our house, beginning with some new fabric button trees made from liberty, tilda and lecien fabrics......
.........the next pictures show some beautiful festive bedding called home for christmas by sophie allport.....which i think looks lovely with my red and white checkerboard patchwork quilt.....
.........this year feels very cosy and festive....and i'm quite excited because my girls and their families will all be here on christmas day......
........last weekend my eldest girl and i went to a christmas fair where i found some lovely vintage items for my collection....including a french enamelware coffee pot and candlestitck
..........love all the twinkly lights and candles making everywhere extra cosy.....
.....we put this red and white irish chain quilt up on the wall as part of the xmas decor.......and mabel the big bunny has a new candy cane cardigan.....
........some of my quilts re made in red white and green for a festive look.....these are my daisy quilt, nautical checkerboard quilt, irish chain quilt and star gazer quilt
.....and lettuce the sugar bunny also has a new candy cane cardigan to join mabel in the festivities.....
..........a chippy cupboard with christmas quilts, vintage finds and sweet little lettuce......
.........this week i have been drying orange and lemon slices for decorations....and added a string to this pentagon ball so it makes a pretty bauble......the patterns for these, along with the fabric button trees,  quilts, bunnies and bunny cardigans can all be found as downloadable pdfs in my etsy shop, link in sidebar......
.........so enjoying these cosy festive days....they may be rather short and dark but the christmas feel is so special and all the lights and candles bring such warmth and cosiness to the wintertime.....

Feeling Festive

Hello again dear readers....here we are feeling rather festive......first we have a quilt stack in our pink lounge......on an old chair which belonged to my husband's family and which i painted many years ago....
.....the quilt on top of the stack is this one......(it is made using my nautical checkerboard quilt pattern with the colours changed...pattern is in my etsy shop link in sidebar).......
....my christmas checkerboard quilt is made from scraps of minty greens, christmas red checks and snowy white solid.....pictured on the picket fence in between the storms, gales and lashing rain of the past few weeks.....
...........it's a cosy little festive quilt with a fresh feel......and below here it is back indoors on the rocking chair accompanied by a beautifully flowering amaryllis.......
...........more reds and greens now and the little flower square pincushion is on my work table.....
........love the twinkly lights in my sewing room and all the festive decorations around are very inspiring....
..........here is a little sugar bunny dressed in a new striped cardigan ready to celebrate....
..........couldn't resist taking a couple more pictures of my toadstool house too :)......
.........and here is a rustic birdhouse, new to me this season....we saw one like this in the cotswolds and when i got home i wished i'd bought it....but luckily found one online......
......my patchwork birds love it.......
...........and it's a very cosy addition to my festive decorating, surrounded with twinkly lights and candles....

Happy December

Happy December everyone....i can hardly believe that it's almost christmas time again.....
.......the old maileg goose is back again and the cosy red and white irish chain quilt is on this bed....lots of red and white quilty things are being displayed around the house now...like the cutter quilt hearts and red and white patchwork stockings (patterns in my etsy shop link in sidebar)......
..........here is this week's quilt stack with the wooden horse.....
...........this year i planted the indoor hyacinth bulbs in plenty of time......
..
......new favourite decorative thing....candles in terracotta plant pots...so easy and so rustic.....
........another gift bag made with sweet liberty fabrics on my work table this week.......
.....with a little chocolate santa which was kindly gifted to me by the newsagent when i bought a magazine.......
.........a new finished quilt now....this is my daisy quilt pattern in red white and green for a very festive feel.....the decorative book stack is from my little chalet......
....the quilt was beautifully longarm quilted for me with curls and stars by talented debbie holland.......
.........such a simple easy pattern to make, and quick too if you use a rotary cutter and chain piece the rows.......i needed a few new christmas quilts in my collection and want to make a few more (for next year!).....
..........leaving you with a little festive jingle bell house surrounded by a green leafy wreath.....

Cosy Times

Hello lovely blog friends....it's been a week of cosiness here.....taking a few pictures in my sewing room....
.......lot of candles, lamplight, quilts and cushions....and a few christmas decorations appearing....
.........tasty treats were baked for last weekend but no pictures were taken of them....i was too busy and then it was mostly all eaten....though here is just one little treat i made....chocolate cinnamon crumble squares from bbc good food.....very yummy.....
....we went on an outing to chester.........here are some photos of the day......
.....feeling very festive and it suddenly turned very cold too........
......... a favourite (very) old pub.......such amazing historic buildings in chester....always love to look at them even though i've been doing so all my life.....
..........and the lovely river view when the sun came out as we walked along the groves.....
.........river boat approaching (it's called the lady diana) and the bandstand in the foreground where we have often enjoyed music being played......after this we went to a cafe for tea and cake and a nice chat....
............at home again and here is my little toadstool house from our half term outing to the pottery cafe.....i secretly love this very much ;).......
..........this is a gorgeous fabric stack of new tilda windy days fat quarters.......this time i didn't wait to cut it up but launched straight in to make.......
...........this quilt.....featuring the little dog walking ladies in economy blocks......and lots of nine patches.....lots more pictures of this to come as i hand quilt it......the fabrics are delightful and create such a cosy effect......

Jingle Bell Houses

Hello everyone and welcome to my little blog space this week......where i have been sewing tiny houses....
..........these are jingle bell houses and they have been fun to make this week using scraps of red starry fabric, and lots of low volume prints, with red wooden buttons and of course......jingle bells.....love these rusty vintage style bells very much.....(pattern for these is in my etsy shop link in sidebar)....
.........we also had a nice outing to a real house last week......the beautiful rufford old hall in lancashire.....
..........so full of atmosphere and steeped in history...it is a small property and has a rather cosy feel...
.........the great hall with a carved wooden screen dating back to the 1600's......
........here is the tea table (tomorrow i am having an afternoon tea party at my house so this might be inspiring me)...... 
..........cosy bedroom with carved four poster bed and beautiful textiles........ 
...........althugh it was grey it was a mild day and we enjoyed walking in the garden and grounds.....
.....beautiful autumn colours and leaves whirling slowly through the air.....canal reflections and country views......we had lunch in the tearoom and a delicious cup of coffee......
.....and when we went back to the car i spied this right next to me......a spotty red and white toadstool waiting there just for me...even though it had been nibbled it was still lovely to see....(i know they are poisonous and wouldn't dream of touching it to those sweet friends who worry!!)......
..........off to do some house cleaning and baking now for friends coming tomorrow......
