Late October

Hello everyone, from my sunny bright autumnal bit of blogland today........enjoying the last days of october, which has been mild and filled with especially beautiful colours this year.....
........still have a few beautiful dahlias flowering and enjoying some indoors in my vintage marmalade jar.......getting out lots of quilts ready for the chilly days......using my pumpkin pincushion again.......
......and here is my new barn star quilt.......inspired by the wonderful traditional painted barn stars of america.....
.....this will hang up in my home as part of our christmas decor........
..........it is simple and graphic and i love its vintage modern look.......
......also vintage style is my vintage hearts quilt below.......all the pdf patterns for the makes shown in this post can be found in my etsy shop link in sidebar......
......lots and lots of scraps were used for this cosy quilt and some of my favourite small pieces found their way in here.......
..........on our walks this week we have seen some beautiful autumn scenes....berries, birds, landscapes.....
.....twining brambles with clusters of berries.......when i was a young designer i used to paint hedgerows every season and often sold the pictures for cards and gift wrap and other surface pattern products....
.......the sunrise earlier this week was so gorgeous i took a photo.....love a pink sky :).......
.........now we are almost at the end of october and getting ready to carve the halloween pumpkin......looking forward to the festive season and making some treats and treasures......

Pumpkins

Hello dear readers.....it's pumpkin week here on my blog.......this is my pumpkin quilt......
.....finished ages ago and finally the pattern has been written and its in my etsy shop link in sidebar....
.....the colours of this please me as they capture the bright fresh autumn shades as well as the warm rich ones......when we were in somerset last month i took some pictures of it in the countryside there.....
...........the fabrics are a scrappy mix but mainly tilda and liberty ...........
...........this was hand quilted and i enjoyed sewing it........
........there was just enough of this sweet bonnie and camille fabric left for the backing...... 
..........here is a very big pink pumpkin found last week.....
........it looked lovely on a stack of quilts in the golden autumn light of the sewing room with matching flowers and a sunny garden view.......
............a bright orange pumpkin was brought home too of course, ready for halloween........
..........and below is a picture of the pumpkin patch we visited on a sunny bright day this week......
........soon we'll be having pumpkin soup again, and coffee with pumpkin spice......love all the simple pleasures each season brings...........

Autumn Days

Hello again dear readers....another week draws to a close and here are some pictures from my autumn days.....loving these warm cosy colours....sewing, stitching, and enjoying nature.....
..........here is my new little autumn days design, with a bright pumpkin, twining berries and warm candlelight......
......this is an easy cross stitch ornament or pincushion and would look nice on a darker fabric too....the pattern is in my etsy shop link in sidebar.......
.........looking cute in my sewing room this week.......
.........a little side view....it is backed with butterscotch brown gingham.......
......more shades of autumn with bunnies and quilts......the irish chain quilt in autumn colours is one of my favourites.......
..........in my tidying up recently (and by that i mean the serious sorting and recycling/binning kind of tidying up!) i found some autumn decals and had fun adding them to candle jars and flower pots.......
.............love to get out the seasonal decorations and to find new berries, mushrooms and conkers each autumn........
...........and maybe a new mug too.........enjoying using my pumpkin spice mug with my october stars quilt..........
............a mushroom village found on one of our walks this week........
............and now we have some real pumpkins too.......bright and warm in the kitchen ready for carving and for making soup.........

Mushrooms

Happy October dear readers..........this week as been all about cosy times.....and about mushrooms......
.......seeing all the field mushrooms appear in our garden has been quite magical.......
..........and i got out the toadstool cushion to use during this autumn season.....(pattern is in my etsy shop link in sidebar)......it's a fun one to make, with added surface stitchery and little vintage buttons.......
............so many marvellous mushrooms.......i love to look at them closely........
...........cosy quilts now and here are some vintage charm quilts......the one on the bed rail is the original one i made which is a throw-ish size (pattern also in my etsy shop as before)....the one on the bed is the same quilt but i just kept going and adding charm squares until it was larger.......
..........a stack of cosy charm quilts......
......don't forget to add the appliqué roses........
.........and a couple more.......
......this year we haven't found any red spotted toadstools on our walks.......below is molly helping hunt for them.....none of the usual places had even a single one but we'll keep looking.......
.........and enjoy my fabric one again for now.......
