Hello dear blog friends.......here we are at the end of a bright spring day, with a bit of a green celebration to share.......this green irish chain quilt was finished in time for st patrick's day yesterday (thanks to my lovely longarm quilter debbie holland of longarmquilting.com)......
......i began this quilt quite a long time ago, when i began using up all the left over jellyroll pieces i'd collected.....i put aside lots of green ones, chopped them up and combined them with kona cotton solid in white to make the nine patch blocks....
.........lots of other projects took over and it was quite a while before the blocks got sewn together (the pattern is my irish chain quilt in my etsy shop link in sidebar)......once it was put together i sent it to be longarm quilted and chose this baptist fan imitation design........debbie holland longarm quilted it beautifully and got it back to me in time too :).....
.......before i added the borders i took some quick pictures in the potting shed on a sunny day....
........the quilt top or flimsy, with a bucket of spring flowers......such a springtime quilt deserved some spring flowers with it.....
.........and there were some scraps left...of course.....even scrap quilts have some leftover scraps.....so i made some cutter quilt hearts in green too.......see on the left below.......
.........and each day the gardens, woods and fields are greening up more and more......
.........today really felt like the first day of spring......it was mild, warm and sunny......
......we went to visit speke hall and here are the daffodils growing under the trees there......
..........above you can just make out the black and white timbered hall in the sunny misty distance.....
.............the recently bare hawthorn hedges are becoming covered in bright green leaves......
.........thank you for visiting me here lovely readers and for you kind thoughtful comments....always so nice to hear from you........when i began my blog many years ago, i wanted it to be a place to visit to be cheerful and uplifting with bright happy pictures, colourful fabrics, makes and flowers and beautiful images and that is how i try to keep it still......love to you all in this beautiful world....may right prevail and love and peace win through.........take care lovelies..........back soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
