Sunshine and a Little Quilt

More sunshine ALL week....we are getting used to this new way of life here and to always eating al fresco, leaving out the cushions at night because it just isn't going to rain (not normal in the uk usually!!) ........some day it will end but for now we are enjoying it (except for when it gets too hot for me and i have to retreat to the coolest bits of our victorian house....
.............the little cot quilt is all finished, quilted and bound.....
...........little quilts make lovely baby gifts.....you can also add a tiny nightlight or make a scrappy fabric jingle bell ball.............
..............i loved hand piecing this little quilt so much...it was my evening sewing project for a while and very relaxing to do.........
............it was quilted by hand too.........love making little quilts and minis at the moment...
.............this one is going on the cot here ready for a certain precious visiting baby......
...........the fabrics are a big mix of scraps from many collections.....

....i finished the top with a strip of minick and simpson fabric from a jelly roll.....
..............and used a favourite pam kitty morning floral for the backing..............
..............at last my sweet peas are flowering even though they have not grown very tall.....
............last week was my birthday on july 4....i had a lovely day and hope all my lovely american readers enjoyed their july 4 celebrations too........
.............celebrating with strawberries (a lovin' spoonful) and dear family...cake and flowers and garden days.....and still that sunshine...what could be nicer?.............

.............thank you for your visits here dear readers and for your sweet comments.......it is always a pleasure to hear from you....have a wonderful july and a happy week ahead with plenty of crafty inspirations ..........back soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

The weather is so glorious at the moment, it's so nice to sit outside eat alfresco. Do some hand sewing while away the evening.
Your quilts are so pretty Helen.

What a beautiful precious little quilt, made all the more so when its for a grandbaby!! :)
My sweet peas are slow too perhaps they like our more 'normal' summers!!! The weather has been wonderful so lovely to enjoy the garden instead of dodging showers!!
happy new week Helen,

Such a beautiful little quilt - and all hand-pieced, very special. I always enjoy looking at all the fabric pieces - each has a story to tell. So happy for your sunshine weather - and that you had a lovely birthday!

Your little quilt is adorable. I’m wondering if you made patches into strips or if you made nine patches and joined the blocks. Your colors are nicely scattered. Such a sweet comfort for your little one.

A belated Happy Birthday, Helen! The weather in the UK has been so unusual, hope it lasts a bit longer....at least until the end of July beginning of August as I'll be back visiting again and would appreciate the warmth!

Your quilt is gorgeous and the matching toys make a wonderful gift.

Helen,
Happy belated birthday to you! I am sure it was a wonderful day.
Love the sweet little cot quilt, love all the fabrics, especially the Pam Kitty Morning backing fabric. I have the dogwood fabric you used for the binding and I used that line in a patchwork quilt. Patchworks are some of my favorite quilts.
We had a wonderful weekend with a birthday party for three great- granddaughters (two of whom are three year old twins and their 12 year old sister). Later we enjoyed a cousins reunion dinner, then everyone gathered at our house for dessert. Happy times!

Thank you for sharing a beautiful post.

*H*A*P*P*Y* * *B*I*R*T*H*D*A*Y*!*!*!* dear Helen! How nice that you share a birthday with the USA! :-) I bet you can't wait to wrap your little guest in that precious quilt. Isn't it neat to know that little one will have that for his whole life as a treasure from his beloved grandmother? ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Buona estate a te.
