Yesterday we had the most perfect summer morning here, and I drank my coffee outside enjoying the blue sky, sunshine, flowers and birdsong in the fresh but warm air...I decided I should write a flowery post to celebrate....The flowers above were already planted in the white container by a clever lady at a local nursery who puts together really sweet little plantings each summer and I always love to go and see what she has created.
I picked lots of mixed garden flowers..I love them in a big colourful bunch together like this..
Placed in a wide necked glass vase they look so simple and colourful, my favourite kind of flower arranging
At the weekend we went to Manchester for an early birthday celebration lunch with my younger daughter and her boyfriend...we had a really lovely time, and gave some gifts (kept some for the day) and after a delicious lunch Rosie and had a peek in some of the quirky little shops in West Didsbury...Rosie lives a few streets away from where I lived as a student at MMU years ago and I love to go back and visit the place....in one shop we found these tiny rosy flowered saucer crackers...I think they are super cute....
Just have to decide which cups they look best with.....flowery ones....
...or plain ones....which do you think?....
After a happy time walking the city streets and enjoying the cafe culture, it was back home to some serious gardening on Sunday...too many weeds have been popping up in our garden and a lot of hard work is needed, plus cutting back and dead heading....I love the actual gardening but don't have enough time, what with the designing and the sewing and now the crochet....and playing with the tiny grandchildren too....
Thank you for visiting me here on this summery day and for your lovely comments...I enjoy reading them so much. Sending you flowery sunshiny days and a happy week. I'll be stitching and crocheting and tidying up the potting shed...and pulling out a few more weeds too. Back soon. xxxxx

Happy birthday to your daughter Helen, what fun that she lives so near to your old art college. The saucer crackers are great...do they contain anything? I think they go best with the flowery ones, they seem a real match for them. It's still so hot here...I think some thunder storms are on our way. Enjoy your garden,

Helen, So nice to read your post. I love the basket of cut flowers and what a lovely assortment you have! I love the cosmos and the blue bells, the colors all look so beautiful together and vintage. So nice to get together with your daughter and boyfriend. I love the poppers and the flowery cup and saucer! Just so summery and cheery! The other cup looks great but more formal to me. Loved visiting you and hope you have a delightful day! xoRobin❤
Gorgeous summer flowers Helen, I love the sweet williams in your bunch... the crackers are adorable too, and they go so well with your china! Hope you manage to get back in the garden soon - weather has definitely taken a turn for the worse down here! Have a lovely rest of your week xxx
I like the crackers on the flowery cup and saucer, too! A really lovely flowery post, full of the prettiest photos. Hope you will come on over and join my giveaway!

Seeing your new posts generally make me feel chirpy! Yesterday here near Tours it was 40°C! Not the easiest of days to bear with a toddler. (To be honest my teenage daughter and I were wilting far more than the baby.)
I nearly went to Manchester Uni 20 odd years ago...
I love your posies of flowers. I'm in love with a French storybook at the moment which contains some beautiful painted flowers... The colours are stunning.
Enjoy the garden, Helen! See you soon.
What joyful colours! Just love a simple bunch of flowers from the garden inside. It the stuff simple dreams.
Those little crackers for tea cups and saucers are just too cute.
I do love your pretty happy blog.

Another pretty post Helen. The flowers are my favourite garden posies. I just love them. Love those little crackers too x
I love the little container that says garden flowers, so pretty!
I too much prefer a simple bunch of flowers, I'm really not too keen on those very formal arrangments.
I would go for the flowery cup and saucer but maybe that's because I too have that Lady Carlisle china, strangely for a non-pink girl it's my favourite!
Have a great week Helen and enjoy your creative life!

Happy Birthday to your daughter
Lovely flower post
Lovely little crackers, they go well with both cups, perhaps with tea in the pretty cups and with coffee in the plain cup........

Hi Helen..I am enjoying your summer flowers so much in our wintery weather! I think the flowery cup and saucer have the edge..what is in the cracker?
A very pretty, summery post! Cx
What a lovely, lovely post again, Helen! You just captured the summer here! And oh, one can never have too many roses or other beautiful flowers, so my vote goes to that beautiful flowery (and pink! I love it!) set!
Happy week and many sunny greetings from Finland!
Yours,
Mia
Hi Helen! I love your flowers - always you have in a beautiful dish/pot! I think the cracker goes so well with both cups. With rosy one because it has rosies and with the plain because both of them has some gold. How to choose?

What a lovely summery post, Helen. Your flowers from the garden are beautiful, a lovely 'natural' bouquet.
I have never heard of saucer crackers before - how sweet! Have you pulled any yet? I would love to know what little treats are hiding inside. I like them with the plain and patterned china, but for me they stand out more on the plain.
Thanks for sharing your sunshine!

Dear Helen, I adore the container of flowers at the top, did you buy them? I like the poppers with both, actually, they match the floral ones, but stand out more with the plain one. Sounds like a fun time you had with your daughter and poking in fun shops from your past. Your posts are always so pretty and bright.. I love coming to visit your world.
((hugs)), Teresa :-)
I love your mix of garden flowers...and those quirky little shops are just the best for unexpected treasures, aren't they?...Your rosy crackers are a lovely find...I can't choose between the cups...sorry Helen they both look too pretty!

Hi Helen, how lovely to visit you in your garden drinking coffee! I love the planter with the writing on it and your vase of lovely mixed flowers. I like the little crackers with the plain cups best, they are adorable. I managed to get some garden furniture painted yesterday, but then it rained all day today on it! Many thanks for your lovely comments Helen, have a great weekend, love Linda x
I love those little crackers, they are so sweet. I'd never seen them before.

Hello Helen,
Sounds like my idea of a perfect weekend. The pink flowers and the planter are lovely, how nice to have a nursery so near you with such delights ready to take away.
I can see your dilemma with the pretty crackers and china, they both look gorgeous but if pushed I'd choose the plain.x
The flowers from your garden are so pretty Helen.
Those crackers are so cute, and look great with either cups, adding more floral prettiness to the floral set and a contrast with the white.
Enjoy your garden and crochet!
