Rosy Days

It's that rosy time of year again here...and in many other gardens too, I know....each day there are more and more sweet scented blooms opening, and rose petal confetti strews the grass..
The top picture shows the rose which climbs over the trellis at the side of the terrace, deliciously scented and lovely to sit near..... the picture above shows one of my favourites, it's very sweet and good for picking as the flowers last a few days and the petals don't immediately fall off, they just gradually subside....
I put these in an old sky blue enamel kitchen utensil holder
One of the deep cerise multi petalled roses next to Auntie Winnie's cups...not our Auntie Winnie, as we didn't have one, but a couple of friends were clearing out their Auntie Winnie's house and asked if we'd like a lot of  old unwanted china (yes please!!) and we received these cups and saucers (a part set of five) plus lots of other interesting things..so their Auntie Winnie is  often remembered here...
Gathering roses for Daisy's party - Sarah put them in jam jars with ribbon round the top, so simple and pretty...I will have some photos soon but haven't had time to sort through them yet...
Daisy had a lovely birthday and on her behalf I'd like to thank everyone for their kind birthday wishes ..(she has been very busy eating cake, wheeling her doll's pram and playing with her new cooker)....here is a stylish picture for her wall made specially by Rosie...now Auntie Rosie, of course....It was a lovely treat for us to have Rosie home for a few days over the weekend...
Thank you so much for dropping by to my bit of blogland, and for all the lovely comments. I hope you are having a rosy week, with blue skies, sunshine and time to enjoy the roses...Back soon xxxxx

Hello Helen:
Yes, roses, always associated for us with June. And yours are so lovely, especially the deep cerise one, a colour which we always think so very striking.

Aunt Winnie's cups are so pretty and make perfect companions to your roses. The scent throughout your house must be wonderful. We can only imagine!

Hello Helen.

I'd like to echo the earlier comments about the beauty of the roses and of Auntie Winnie's china.

This is summertime at its best! Great time for a party too, it would seem.

Best wishes.

I love Aunt Winnie's name..I wonder if she was a Winifred or like my granny..an Ethelwynne...such old fashioned names! They go beautifully with roses though 'cos they're such old fashioned flowers..traditional beauty.

Hi Helen! I'm thinking if there is something more beautiful than light pink rose - perhaps not!

Dear Helen, thanks for sharing your roses. We've had such a dark, cold, rainy Spring here in Oregon.. and our Portland Rose Festival begins next week and none of the roses are in bloom anywhere!! ::sigh::

So, I'lll have to make do with your photos of them.

((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Dear Helen,

Your roses look beautiful. I like the shade of pink and the abundance of flowers.

Lucky you to be receiving those pretty teacups from your friend. I can see you sitting in your garden, enjoying the late evening sun and drinking tea out of them :-)!

Happy evening & lieve groet,

Hi Helen, I have been off the radar due to no internet connection...so good to be back. Next to daffodils roses are my favourite flowers and I love their scent. Your china is soooo pretty, lucky you! I'm glad Daisy had a super birthday.

I love everything in this post, Helen! The flowers, the colors, the china and the Daisy-wall, just wonderful! It'll take still a few weeks until we'll have the roses here so thank you for sharing these! They'll do greatly in the meanwhile!

Happy week!

Yours,
Mia

My Granny Winnie left me some beautiful china too but sadly I keep it packed away as china and young children don't mix! So glad Daisy had a lovely birthday.
My husband persuaded me to chop down my one rose in the garden as it was too close to a path but it's come back with a vengence and growing away from the path! Hooray! Yours are truly stunning.

Thankyou so much for your lovely comments you left on my blog, they were very heart-warming and greatly appreciated. I stole the "things I love " idea from Julie at The Cloth Shed, she didn't mind! Aww, I had an Auntie Winnie - she wasn't a proper auntie, she was my Sunday School teacher. She was lovely and I haven't thought about her for ages. Thank you for making me think of her x
