Brocante

Hello dear readers..........happy new week....it feels like monday here after the bank holiday but of course i have to keep remembering it's tuesday.... last week my elder daughter and i had a lovely day out at a local brocante fair............amongst the treasures i found to bring home were a little milking stool....
..........and a white enamel coffee pot and blue and white pastille tin fresh from france....
............love all the soft timeworn colours at the brocante...........the old buttons and textiles.....
.............lots of my vintage sewing things came from my family and my husband's family...but i still like to collect more......
..........here is a new log cabin block in soft shades ready for a new quilt.......
..........pretty quilts around the house always make me happy.....in this picture there are three...the st ives quilt, the heartstrings quilt, and an older one of mine called the floating four patch....
............always love an old book too especially on a needlework theme......
............and a new/old lace trimmed victorian nightie.....
...........here is our old front door.....it doesn't have roses round it but huge hydrangeas......some of these flower heads are enormous.............
.............we have had some very hot sunny days over the past week ............
..............and some complete deluges of rain too......here are the bulbs that hang across our patio dotted with raindrops......
...........leaving you with a little bunny picture and wishing you all a very happy week ahead.....thank you to everyone who leaves me a kind comment and to everyone who pops in here........back soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Those hydrangeas!! I live in southern California and I thought we had some beautiful ones in the neighborhood. But my husband and I just returned from our first trip to parts of England and Ireland and I was totally amazed by the size and quantity you have there. It was a daily and gorgeous feast for the eyes--and so are all your beautiful creations!

Loved all your lovely photos of your pretty quilts and flowers. I love the new log cabin block in the pastels! And I also love white... white tins and white enamelware.... my most favorites to find and collect. I have a "thing" for tins too.... especially white ones! I just don't have anywhere to put them anymore, so usually don't purchase any.... I need to pare down some of my other collections (hoards)!! We are having HOT weather here in Oregon and going camping this weekend so will enjoy that nice mountain air and trees and a lake we'll be by. Enjoy the nice days. xoxo Marilyn

I'm glad you found a few new (old) wonderful things at the market. I know I would have found a few treasures, too. You have such an eye for pretty colors, Helen! It was fun to see 3 of your quilts together. Have a super week, my friend. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

I love the treasures you brought home! I never find treasures like that around here...lucky you! I love all your quilts. I could never pick a favorite. I adore your bunnies too. My hydrangeas are huge this year but no blooms. I can't imagine what's wrong can you?
