Happy new week dear readers..........today we have the newly finished quilt called 'gather the flowers' (named from a line in a poem)............
..............i really loved making this quilt, choosing the fabrics and planning the design and then quilting it by hand.......now i'm writing the pattern so i can eventually share it..........
.................gather the flowers but spare the buds............wise words :) ..............
...........the fabrics i used are mainly moda, lecien, pam kitty morning, liberty....so lots of my favourites in there.....
..............the next thing i've been making is a BIG bunny......this is mabel and she was named by my grand daughter daisy, and inspired by her too ('nannie i think it's time you made some big bunnies')...
..............mabel is the biggest bunny i've made so far and i had to design her dress to fit her unique shape too .........i made her a smock dress, the kind i love myself......
...............here she is sitting on my work table along with the bow tie quilt (the pattern for this quilt is now in my etsy shop).............
..............and here is mabel with the gorgeous spring flowers that i rescued from the storms.....
..........we have had a lot of stormy weather this week, rain and wind and not at all good gardening weather.....so we went to the garden centre and enjoyed the flowers there undercover...and bought a few things to keep in the greenhouse until the winds die down......
............having said that, the spring bulbs are amazingly resilient..........
.............this is a view of our garden and some of the bulbs which survived storm gareth this week....
..........thank you for your visits here and for your kind comments...it is always so lovely to hear from you...........wishing you a happy week with sunny days and pretty flowers......and of course plenty of crafty inspiration too............back soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi Helen, I love this quilt. I have some similar pretty fabrics, but am wondering what the border stripe fabric is. I would love to try and get some if it is a recent line. Thanks Bev
Mabel is wonderful ... well done Daisy for inspiring your Nannie!! :)
Your quilt is so pretty too.
I'm surprised that there weren't more garden casualties as a result of the high winds but you are so right Helen little spring flowers are made of strong stuff!!
Happy new week,
V x
Helen,
I love this quilt and look forward to the pattern in your shop. I also love your blog and in fact all of your quilts are just beautiful. I am slowly piecing your star quilt from your book, Modern Vintage Gifts. I can't wait to someday finish it so I can enjoy it. I am very happy that you started an Etsy shop so we too can try our hand at making your quilts, etc.
Looking forward to seeing your garden this summer!
Kind Regards,
Sharon
Such a pretty quilt.
Your new quilt gathers the flowers beautifully, Helen! So lovely of you to design Mabel to please Daisy and many others as well. At Teresa's suggestion, I went into the garden by my front door and gathered a tiny bouquet of wild Violets from the plant I showed in my last post. They are wonderfully fragrant as Teresa said they would be. We were warned about having high winds the last few days. So far they have not been destructive, and I hope yours will soon calm down without causing any further wreckage. Wishing you a happy week. xx
Beautiful quilt and cute bunny.
Love your garden and flowers also pretty.
Mabel is lovely. The quilt flowers are so charming, I'd like them on a dress.
I love this quilt Helen. Also you're lovely garden. Glad that some pretty flowers survived the storm!
The quilt is so beautiful and so are your colorful spring flowers. All the gorgeousness took my breath away. Thanks for sharing the beauty. Alexine
I think your quilt is stunning. Cant wait till you've written the pattern. This one will be for my Granddaughter. Mabel looks very happy sitting there.Your garden is so pretty.
I adore the quilt you made.. not only the flowers but I think your flying geese border is brilliant. I'm glad you were able to rescue a lovely bouquet from your garden after the storm. Your flowers are way ahead of ours after our snowy wintery weather just a few weeks ago. Enjoy your Spring! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
Oh my goodness, I love Mabel and her gorgeous strong legs. She is big and she looks peppy. Aren't grand daughters the best? Oh we are blessed to have such sweet little grands. Mine are still far to tiny to make any requests yet, but I am ready
I love the flower quilt.
I know your weather has been beastly, I am glad that the flowers toughed it out with a smile and happy clean bright colors
You've done a gorgeous job on your flower garden quilt! I just love those colors and fabrics you chose. A striped border just really pops. And Mabel looks very happy to be sitting amongst the flowers. Still no flowers here in central Oregon, but I'm looking forward to seeing some one of these days. I wish I had the patience to make some of the bunnies. They are just so so darling! xoxo Marilyn
Another amazing quilt, Helen. Happy first day of spring!
