Bright Stars: A Quilt in Progress

Here is the bright stars quilt top..........i've been working on this (at the same time as many other projects) for quite a while........it is hand stitched using english paper pieced diamonds...........
..............the six point stars are turned into hexagons using the same diamond shape........the stars are made from many scrappy fabrics and the hexagons are created using bright shades of kona cotton solids............
............some of the stars were fussy cut like this one using gorgeous lecien fabric....
...............this star is one of the first i made for the quilt and i photographed it at the time with some of my sweetpeas from the garden............
..........the colours are exciting now that the hexagon blocks are pieced together.....
...........as you can see i also appliqued little circles in the star centres..........
............it's been a pleasure making this and i do love slow sewing and epp......so i am just beginning a new epp project now :).....more about that one soon....
............i also love to stitch my cross stitch designs too and recently worked on another secret stitch along with sew and so....this time it is a right royal stitchalong ....here are some little sneak peeks....
............if you sign up to the stitchalong here you will receive all the materials needed and then each week for six weeks you will be sent a piece of the chart to stitch and can watch your regal design take shape....
...........love this little chippy corgi which belonged to my mother in law who always had a (real) corgi.....
...............we had some very cold and grey weather last week and then a couple of lovely sunny days which we made the most of...we visited gardens and worked in our own too...........spring really is here now and here is a blossom against blue sky picture...my favourite thing :) ............
............thanks for dropping by dear readers and for the kind comments you leave me......it is always nice to hear from my lovely blog friends around the world xx..............wishing you a happy sunny week with plenty of crafty inspiration.............back soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Stunning quilt Helen...I think you have every colour covered!!! I love how the diamonds become stars and then hexagons, isn't geometry a very clever thing!
Those little corgis are the cutest. :)
I'll enjoy your blossom and blue sky for the time being as we don't have any here yet!
Happy new week lovely,

Beautiful quilt! Love the idea of the stitch along - so fun to watch it all come together like a mystery Block of the Month in quilting. Such pretty blossoms to lighten the heart - thank you for the lovely pics!

Dear Helen this is so gorgeous quilt! I regret I started to piece other shapes and not diamonds. Looks so beautiful with different print scrals in the middle and solids around. Also the circle in the middle is perfect detail. Spring wishes! x Teje

Helen,
I am always in awe of your EPP projects and this beautiful star quilt tops them all. I think the first block you made might be my favorite, but it is hard to say as they are all wonderful.
So glad to hear spring has finally come to you. The sun just cannot seem to stay here for very long as we awoke to snow on the ground and another cloudy day. Hopefully it will not stay around long as temps are to climb later this week. Looking forward to cleaning out some flower beds.
Love the pink blossoms against the blue sky photo. That just speaks of spring.
Thank you for sharing.

your latest star quilt is really something, at first glance it seems bright and colourful, on closer inspection it has just so much detail and so many colours it takes a while to take it all in! Really pretty.

Beautiful quilt! Love all the bright colors. I'm glad you're having spring now. So many of us have had a cold wet and even snowy spring so far. I hope to work in my garden later this week!

That quilt is quite literally a stunner! Bravo! That Stitch-a-long looks pretty exciting. How sweet you have your MIL's little ceramic Corgi. I'd love to have one of those myself. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Gorgeous! I cannot imagine having the patience to make a quilt like that! I've been working on a little patchwork bag which is trying my patience.
