Summer Blues

Happy new week everyone...and happy new month too.......today's theme is blue as you can see....
................i love blue and white together any time of year but especially in summer.......
.............the blue and white cushion i made last year is in use a lot this summer both indoors and outside in the garden.........here it is with the beautiful blue agapanthus flowers which are having a good summer here on our patio.......
...............here is the blue and white checkerboard quilt also having an airing in the garden.....
......i haven't yet tried taking pictures of my quilts 'in the wild'....the garden is as adventurous as i get........but i think i'll try and go further afield soon :).......
.............blue lavender.......one of my favourites and now it is time to cut some for drying to make lavender sachets again.......
...............adding more hearts to my red and blue hearts quilt each week as well as working on a gazillion other projects......
..............this time of year is super busy for me as i look after my grandchildren for some of the holidays too.....they are so adorable and such fun.........
..............making these little heart blocks using hand sewn applique is a quick crafty fix.....and they soon sew up into a bigger block by machine when a few have been made......
................next i have some exciting news.....here is a peek at the christmas design i created for sew and so's secret christmas stitchalong......if you join the modern folky inspired stitchalong you'll have a handmade cross stitch piece ready for the start of the season.........
.....a new motif will be released weekly (12 charts in total) and a materials pack is available to pre order........find out all the details at sew and so here............
............thank you lovely readers for dropping by to see me here and for leaving such sweet comments.......wishing you a wonderful week ahead with lots of happy crafty times......back soon xxxxxxxxxxxx

I wonder how you hand applique your hearts that you mentioned. Lovely pics! Natalie

Love your applique hearts. I am doing mine on point and mostly red and pinks with a few novelty ones threw not in. They work up real fast.

Oh I love blue, as you know, Helen! Those cornflowers and agapanthus are stunning and I adore your lovely cushion and quilts.
You know I don't think you need to go further afield to photograph your quilts, your beautiful garden is just perfect.
Have fun with your grandchildren!

Must be the day for blue because I am writing up a pattern for something blue today with blue in the name of the pattern! Lovely to see your blues while I skipped away from my work for a little bit!

I love your blues! I got tired of blue when in the U.S. we had that 'country blue' that seemed to take over everything but since it is now gone, I am liking the color again. Especially the mix of hues and patterns in the fabrics you chose! I've always loved navy blue but the periwinkle is a favorite too and bluebell blue and so many more....thank you for reviving my love of blues...that 'counry btlue' saturation for so long almost ruined them for me.
I love the SAL that is planned and if I get my frosted pumpkin done in time I may join in. If not I may just print it off and plan on it for later....is that kosher? Anyway, I'm sure it is darling as that little 'peek' indicates. I will get may material ready just in case! Enjoy your garden, your grands and your crafting! Hugs ~ Sam

Beautiful. Cool summer blues quilting and in your garden, which is a fabulous place to show your quilts and cushions. Love the simplicity of the hearts too. Your cross stitch see along is a great idea, hope to join in. Keep enjoying the summer. Love Pat XOX

What a lovely summery colour palette. I love the blues especially when combined with the gorgeous red fliers in the last photo. The blue and white quilt and cushion look perfectly at home in the garden.
