August Makes

My summer brights throw is one of the projects i finished this august and it was a pleasure to make with its simple granny stripes and warm colours that remind me of summer flowers and fruits.....
...............and colourful striped sticks of seaside rock too................
..........most of the crochet was done at home and i finished the border when we were away at the seaside.............
............the yarn is all stylecraft special dk except for two of the greens...the bright one is from king cole and the softer one is a dolly mixture one by patons.............the border is a few rows of single crochet in colours from the main blanket............it is a lovely little throw to use, especially for children and babies to have tucked round them...................

............some nice sustenance is always need during crochet and other crafting sessions don't you find?................below is little miss molly showing off her amazing new summer hair cut.......
..............the hydrangeas are in full bloom here and i love being able to make a really quick and colourful flower arrangement with a few snips of the secateurs and a pretty jug............
.................the next august make i would like to show you is my project in the new issue of crafts beautiful magazine.............(it is actually the october issue that is on the newsstands now).........
...............i made a set of three dotty bears which can be gifted individually...............
..............or made into a pretty garland to decorate a playroom or nursery............
..............you can find out more about the magazine and download patterns on the crafts beautiful website here...............
...............wishing you all a happy last few days of august.............thank you for visiting me here dear readers and for taking the time to leave such sweet comments.............back soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Ahhh Helen, you've accomplished so much during August...and there's still a bit of August left!

Your colorful crocheted afghan has a great flow of shades. Looks like the colors are dancing. That touch of green adds to the tempo.

And now on to the three bears...they are adorable in their dottiness. I imagine that many folks are going to wish to make these little cuties. They have winning personalities and each features your well-chosen detailed stitching.

Bravo! xo

It's impossible to choose my favourite photo here - I have a sneaking suspicion Miss Molly's hair-do might just have the edge!!
Love your gorgeous colours as always & hydrangeas remind me of my childhood as my parents had a spectacular one in their front garden that people used to stop and admire.

Oh Helen, I don't know how you accomplish so much! Tell me your secret, please! LOL! I have blanket fever right now as it has been awhile and I know I am going to start one soon. I love your summer colors and it did remind of summer fruits and flowers....I could almost smell it! Your little teddies are so sweet and what lovely hydrangeas. I have to catch up with you as usual I have fallen behind. What pattern did you use for your blanket, may I ask? So glad you are having an enjoyable summer especially with that new baby although I bet he is growing fast! Hugs..Sam

Hi Helen! I am just now catching up on your last two beautiful posts. I'm so glad you had a good holiday, enjoying the sea, family and a visit with Janet, too. I love the way your throw turned out and your dottie bears, also. In my time camping by the sea I made some progress on a crocheted shaw and a knit baby blanket, and on a following road trip I completed two small aqua knit dishcloths as well. Isn't it especially lovely to stitch by the sea? Wishing you and yours excellent days! xx

A little handwork on vacation is a great thing. Your August makes are all so pretty. The three bears would make a cute gift for a child. I can just imagine the stories they would engender.
