Sky Blue Pink

This week i have been enjoying playing with fabrics....making a little quilt for a magazine project which i will reveal when it is published.....and making some sweet sewing notions using the lovely lecien fabrics i received recently.............
.............the garden is filled with tiny flowers at the moment, perfect to pick for posies to enjoy in the sewing room while i work................
..............i made a needle book using random hexagons and new flower sugar fabric......
.................and i made a pincushion by fussy cutting the flower posies to fit the hexagons in a more intentional way..........quite a different look, and interesting to see what effects fussy cutting creates....
............finally i made a little scissor keep using two of the hexagons sewn together and padded with a little bit of toy filling and attached with a long ribbon......i love having a scissor keep on my scissors( it stops them sliding down the side of the sofa)........i used to make cross stitched ones for my sharp little stork scissors, but now i make all kinds with different fabrics......
..............this week the apple blossom has opened and looks so pretty...........
..............i picked one small sprig to photograph close up.........below is the inside of the needle book, showing the rose print lining and the bright pink felt pages ready to fill with needles.............

..............seeing the colours of the photos for this post, and especially the apple blossom on the blue painted background is what gave this post its title......as a child i loved the idea of a colour called sky blue pink, even though i knew it was a joke and a fictitious colour, it just sounded so nice :)............sometimes at sunset the sky above the sea where we live has stripes of beautiful light blues and pinks.........sky blue pink could be a real colour then....
............the good news here this week is that the painting of the house outside is all finished :D......so glad.......and it's may now too....one of the most lovely months of the year............when i went up to the attic last week to open windows for 'the men' to paint the frames i found some packets of old cards from granny's attic, still not sorted out.......these lexicon cards were among them.....could be fun for paper crafting and scrap booking, i think.................
..............and speaking of paper crafting here is my project for this month's issue of crafts beautiful....a crafter's notebook, with some cross stitch tags and a stitched label..........you can find out more about the magazine online here...............
...............today is a bank holiday here in the uk, and we actually have sunny weather........
...........the weekend began with a very cold (freezing) and miserable day but now it has blossomed into blue sky and sunshine so we are going to make the most of it........in a little while i will be planting sweetpeas and beans..............and then we will take molly for a long country walk.............
................thank you for dropping in to my crafty blog world, lovely readers, and thank you for your very kind comments and emails too........wishing you a wonderful week ahead with sunny days and crafty times................back soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxooooooooooooxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Helen, blue sky pink is a lovely color to imagine.

This post is so filled with spring lightness. I continue to marvel at all that you create. Wonderful freshness in those tiny posies and in all your stitching, too.

Blue sky pink is a wonderful color and I know just what you mean. I have always loved pink and blue together. I made my first quilt for my own bed when I was 14 and I chose sky blue and pink as the main color scheme. It had a dusty, country look, unlike your bright, modern-looking fabrics here. I love that fabric design has embraced this look, it's vintage and modern at the same time. I hope you're having a good week so far, and enjoy your bank holiday!

I just finished small outside table with drift Wood to go to the shop and start to make some glass rings ... i really miss some cute sewing! I wish you love week! x Teje

Ah sky blue pink takes me back to my childhood because if I ever asked my father what colour something was that was always his answer! :)
Your apple blossom is so pretty and I love the little scissor keeper, I would definitely need one of those as I'm always losing my scissors down the sofa.
Great minds Helen, as I too planted out my sweet peas today!
I hope you had a lovely bank holiday.

Although I know I have seen scissor keeps before, I did not realize that's what they're called, and I can not remember having one, Helen. I can definitely relate to having scissors become lost among
cushions though so I might do well to make my scissors a keep!
I'm glad your house is finished donning its new coat of paint and love seeing some of the sweet flowers plucked from your garden.
On the Oregon Coast last week I am fairly certain I saw your sky blue pink...so very pretty :) xx

so many pretties. I've been happily making hexagons this week, but I'm yet to sew any of them together...

Such pretty hexie projects Helen! I just love how the colours match all your spring flowers and blue skies. I planned on ordering a fat quarter bundle of those fabrics but I procrastinated too long and they sold out! Next time I'll know better:) At least I can comfort myself with knowing Lecien always comes out with something equally pretty later on.
Enjoy your blossoms!

My grandpa always said sky blue pink was his favorite color! I think he was joking with us, but sometimes at sunset I believe it. Your post title immediately made me think of him :) http://cozybirdhouse.blogspot.com/
