Little Birdhouse

It's a little bit wintry here, just a few degrees colder.........and a few festive things are appearing in my crafty space almost by magic.............
...........not actual xmas decorations yet, of course......it is much too soon for that ;) .........it is my husband's birthday at the end of november and about a week after that we begin to think about christmas...............i have been wanting to decorate a little wintry festive birdhouse and this weekend i found a bit of spare time to do so...............
................i had lots of red and white printed selvedge in my craft cupboard........and some rubber stamps and a soft red ink pad gave the effect i hoped for..................
.............there are a few little decorations being made in my sewing room.........
................and little by little a few candles, lanterns, berries and red china are just popping up here and there..............
...........here are some of my crafty things from this week's projects all laid out neatly........
...........each of these has featured in my work in one way or another...........i have made some tiny things for work and for fun............the tiny pin cushion below has a vintage button sewn in the centre....
..............the little lavender scented heart with a red bell and button and a tape measure ribbon hanger will be a nice extra to go with a big chunk of French soap............
..................the picture below shows the red and white cross stitched and appliqued tea towels i made as my project for this month's crafts beautiful magazine available now......see more here..............

...............lots of red and white and some grey too..............below is my new winter's night reading treat.....a new persephone book....'because of the lockwoods' by dorothy whipple........
.............today has been sunny as well as cold so far and molly and i have had a nice walk admiring the holly berries on the way...........now it is time to get on with some more work........perhaps a quick cup of tea first and a cinnamon cookie might be a good idea..............
.............thank you for your visit, lovely readers, and for your kind comments (and sweet emails too).........i hope you are enjoying these november days, with crafty, happy times and wintry inspirations...........keep cosy.................back soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxooooooooooxxxxxxxxxx

I adore your little birdhouse! I went through a phase of painting full size birdhouses with all kinds of designs, like ivy growing around it, or making it look like a barn or house.. so your birdhouse really makes me remember how I love them. Enjoy your cozy times and *H*A*P*P*Y* * *B*I*R*T*H*D*A*Y*!*!*!* to your husband! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

While I am still focused on the amber theme of Fall around here, I have been having some fleeting visions of wintery holly berries and in fact I asked my youngest daughter if she had spotted any red holly berries on our holly trees in the woods. I need to go for a hike and see for myself :) Meanwhile, I enjoyed viewing your red berries and your cheery latest red and white projects, Helen.
Happy Birthday to your husband!!! xx

I love all the bits of red in your post today, Helen. I find myself so drawn to red over the past few years, never having cared for it before. I really love it now, though, and especially with lighter or washed-out colors, or pure white. The birdhouse is adorable and I love the decorated roof. Thanks for sharing. Have a good week, Helen. :)

Helen, I've enjoyed seeing how you've begun to introduce these red-and-white seasonal ambassadors into your home. I particularly like the cross stitch and applique tea towel.

Since returning from my holiday, I've been catching up on posts, and appreciated your praise of the Clover pom pom makers. They really are marvelous little devices that do their job very well. And yes, it's good to have a variety of sizes. The world just needs more pom poms, don't you think!

What a fantastic way to decorate the birdhouse!

Some of my students (I work with young people with behavioural issues) are currently attending a project where they make and decorate birdhouses, it is such a great thing for them to do, very calming. And they are producing some great work. Lots of mums and grans are going to have lovely presents for Christmas!

What a darling little birdhouse and I especially like the little postmark stamp you have.
Thank you for reminding me of the Persephone books~I remember being delighted when you posted about them before and I did go to their website but then never did anything. They look like very special books. Do you belong to their subscription? Do you pick your own? Are those the only books you read? Just curious....they look so good I wouldn't know where to start!
