In the Pink

Summer is here and the sun is shining, the flowers are blooming and we are sipping pink lemonade to keep us cool.............i have two finished projects to show you today :)..........first of all this is what i used those hexies for that i showed you last time................
.................i joined them in a traditional grandmother's garden hexie block and then used fusible wadding to back them with, then quilted round the outside and the middle with pink cotton........
.............to make two table mats for the summer garden table..............
................a lovely easy make for summer sewing, and of course can be made in any colour......though i like the shades of pink and a bit of purple, like the sweetpeas................
.................we had something matching to eat.............

..................and to drink........i love pink drinks.................
.................and my second finished project today is rosie's blanket which she loves and has now taken home with her to their country cottage...........i made a little tag and tied it with a pink and green ribbon..............
...............i almost forgot to take some pictures of it, but managed to snap a few just in time.....
............i loved making this with it's pretty repeating pattern of pink, green and cream granny stripes and simple pink and green border, it was a pleasure to crochet...........i am also enjoying making daisy's new ripple blanket too, and my best boy charlie has requested one next in red and white stripes.......his football team colours :)............
...............besides crochet i've been quilting and doing some new patchwork blocks but will show you those in another post...........below is the beautiful fragonard sweet pea soap from france.......
.............the packaging is so beautiful i am keeping it in my studio to look at often.........and the soap is delicious and a pleasure to use..............i will leave you with a picture i took of pale pink houses and bright pink bougainvillea tumbling over a wall in a tiny old street in the south of france..........
..................thank you for dropping in here to visit me, lovely readers, for your blog friendship and your sweet comments too...............i hope you are all in the pink and enjoying these july days wherever you may be...............................back soon xxxxxxxxxxxooooooooooooooxxxxxxxxxxx

As I look around me I am surrounded by more red, white, and blue, than pink, Helen, but your post reminds me that I feel "in the pink" as I am enjoying our warm summer days, I just strung some cobalt blue beads I will try to show you in a post soon, but meanwhile, thanks for showing me some of your pretty projects that inspire me to create my own :)
Hope you and yours have a lovely week.... xx

Oh Helen, I so enjoy visiting with you. You are such an inspiration. I love your hexie mats and you have inspired me to also make them. May I ask what size hexie you used? I only knit but boy do I appreciate anyone who can crochet. Just so beautiful as is all your work.

Yes, Helen, you are in the pink and how nice it is! Love your photos and the hexes are so sweet. I'm thinking you have fusible wadding? in fabric? (not familiar with that but I love the idea. I will have to look into it. Rosie's blanket turned out so yummy I could just hug it. I would also have saved the soap box, too cheery to toss. Pink is one of my favorite colors so you made my day!

I love all of the pink color! Color is what I love about summer. And I just told someone yesterday, I want to slow it down. It's going much too quickly and I'm afraid I'll go into a depression if we have another winter like last year!

It's fun to see all the ways that we can enjoy pink under the summer sun. I like all the examples you've shown us, Helen.

Seeing those hexie mats reminds me to tell you that I actually did add some of my own embroidered hexie patches to a needy cushion cover recently. I used white linen thread on a neutral beige linen/cotton blend fabric. I made the cushion cover needing this decorative patching ages ago from some pink, rose and green Laura Ashley fabric. It's very faded now, so adding my freeform patches has contributed some shabby chic. I hope!

I do love the edging you used for that pretty crocheted blanket. It really does give a perfect light definition to your design.

Happy summer! xo

I just love all the pink in your post and am inspired to add more pink in my home and garden. Those hexie flowers are so cute and precise! How do you make them look so neat? And do you back them with another flower?
The blanket is so sweet. No wonder your granddaughter loves it!

Sigh! Love France. Never been but love the French country side. I love your hexagon tea mats. I am a hexagon fan for sure. I just finished cutting out 4,000 of them. Took me 4 days. Hopefully I can find the time to do all of them in some form. My quild hates hexies. Too bad for them. I take them along and do them at our gatherings every week. Chuckle. It's the little devil in me. They allow me to be in with my hubby at night watching tv, so he doesn't feel left out. He goes with me because I have TIA and he doesn't want them to freak out if it happens. He knits. Yes he makes hats and rugs. Anyway Love your post and I will be a follower of your blog. Safe trip home.
