Apples (and other Fruits)

Happy new week dear readers....and happy september too.....above is my august collage...such a lovely month of busy activities, seaside days, quilts, flowers and fun times.....
...........here is a little zipper pouch i made recently with some lovely lecien orchard fabric.....
............i sewed the red zipper in place so you could see it and the colour is part of the design....
............i just wanted a pretty zipper pull for it......and i found just the right one at the festival of quilts....this shiny red apple charm was perfect......
.........this was me choosing cherry charms as well as apple ones and about to have the pleasure of meeting the talented designer atsuko matsuyama in person too.....it was very inspiring.......
............the beautiful applique of berries and leaves here is a detail from one of the baltimore quilts displayed at the festival of quilts....one of many exquisite applique designs that i photographed for future inspiration.......
.............apples growing in our garden.........love all the red and green.....
.............soon be making pies and crumbles again......
.............and this week i will begin hand quilting my newest fruit inspired quilt...the little cherries quilt..........autumn always begins for me by making a few new pumpkins with some of my latest favourite fabrics....
.............this time i'm adding ribbon with words on and also tiny flowers to decorate my new pumpkins......
..............inspired by tilda fabrics and white linen........and softly fading hydrangea flowers.....
...........my grandchildren are going back to school this week....their new uniforms are ready and my daughters have both been busy sewing on all the name tapes......my oldest grandson is going to high school and my second to youngest grandson is starting school for the very first time......time moves on so fast doesn't it........i love these september days though and the special light and atmosphere so i'm going to enjoy each moment......thanks for dropping by lovely readers and wishing you a wonderful week ahead.............back soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

How sweet those pumpkins are. Autmn has come too quickly, I think!
I wonder if I might ask you where you find Lecien fabrics? My local patchwork shop only stocks a very few of one design, and I would love to explore some of the others.

Wonderful post. Lucien orchard fabric is so charming, I can imagine sofa quilt, pajamas, and a robe. I love your pumpkins! They are small enough to hand sew watching the evening news.

Nice post :-)
Today we had our grandchildren with us for the last time this summer holiday, yes, it is back to school for them on Wednesday; they are looking forward to seeing all their friends.

Greetings from Oregon, USA, Helen! I love the little pouch, and the cute apple charm.. could it be a present for one of your school-bound grandchildren? Your apples look delish.. we have a big old tree and all best looking ones are 30 feet in the air! Love your fabric pumpkins, I adore my collection of crocheted ones.. I need to find them. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

I'm loving your bright and pretty pouches! The red accents are so Happy!! :). I have an abundance of them in all sizes. When I travel, I am super fussy about keeping everything separated. I prefer fabric pouches to plastic lined as I can wash them gently if there is a spill or smudge.

I feel the same about this time of year...the hazy light coming through the windows, the stillness of the lake, the earlier sunsets that glow.

Happy quilting, my friend!

Helen.. such a pretty post.. love all the fabrics you display and your quilts.. always LOVE them! What a cute little pouch with the apples.. and your fabric pumpkins! oh I admire them so.. and keep meaning to make some each Fall and never do. I still have a photo from your pumpkins a couple of years ago.. on my "inspiration" board.. to remind me to make some. Those were reds and yellows and just love them. I bought some flannel years ago (Fall colors) to make pumpkins, and still have it waiting for me! I'm going to enjoy the month of September and hope it's a "lazy" month of relaxing, done with most gardening.. and just enjoying the warm days and cooler nights (I hope)! Take care............Marilyn
