Inspired by Flowers

Hello dear readers.......back today with a whole bunch of flower inspired pictures and projects.....
..........starting with a new cross stitch design....this is my daisy seed packet pattern.....
.........it makes a cute ornament for spring or a sweet little pincushion for garden lovers.......the pattern can be found in my etsy shop link in sidebar........
.........flowers have always been a big inspiration for me.....as a textile student we were taught plant drawing as an essential part of designing for fabrics but i loved flowers long before that, from earliest childhood.....
........floral fabrics like the ones used on these birdies are so inspiring to me for my patchwork makes....i love how the colours look together and how pretty the different floral designs look when combined......
..........at the moment i'm especially inspired by japanese florals and by tilda floral fabrics.....
........above is my flower square pincushion and below is my work in progress vintage log cabin quilt in summer garden flower fabrics.......
...........this little cupboard in my studio is filled with flowery quilts........
..........and there is another floral bird and a flowery patchwork heart too.......
............on a walk this week we saw a bank of violets blooming......and below a colourful drift of crocus and snowdrops in the churchyard.......
..........these little birdies are made from my patchwork bird pattern in my etsy shop....this time i've added little wheels to them....(or wooden buttons)....and a string with a bell to pull them along........

......thank you for dropping by to my little bit of blogland lovely readers and thank you especially to those who leave me a comment....so lovely to hear from you.........wishing you a happy week ahead with sunshine and flowers and lots of crafty inspirations............love and peace.............back soon xxxxxxxxxx

......we had a lovely valentine's day and here is the loveliest gift....a blue and white striped cornishware mug with a tiny heart and a matching biscuiteers biscuit...such a sweet duo and perfect for me as it matches my quilt........i *might* have mentioned this to my hubby in time for valentines day......
........such a lovely time of year as the tulips in the shops are plentiful and the ones in the garden are all showing promising green shoots......
..........below is the gorgeous biscuit......how could anyone eat it??.........
...........this is my heartstrings quilt and it's not just for valentine's day.....i love heart quilts so much and am always thinking of another version to make.....the pattern for this one is also in my etsy shop.......
............on an outing this week to a nearby botanical gardens we saw drifts of crocus beneath the trees....
........and pots of tiny iris......such deep shades, and pretty markings.......
.........below are some of my kitchen bulbs and spring flowers......the scent of hyacinths here is very strong and delicious.......
...........and a few more carrots for my final spring picture..........(the orange fabrics really did come in handy after all).......off to sew a quilt now and later to tend to my greenhouse pots.......i actually did a whole afternoon's gardening in the cottage garden this week and it was lovely to see the new shoots and buds there..........

Hello again dear readers....it's been a busy week in the sewing room.......
......the new fabric i was really looking forward to arrived and i couldn't wait to start sewing.......
.....this is tilda *pie in the sky* fabric....so colourful and cheerful......
........as you can see above, first i made some patchwork hearts (pattern in my etsy shop link in sidebar).....
.........and then some flower pots.........
......these are made from the blue flower pots pattern, but the pots will be lots of colours in this version.....
.........inspired by gardens, seeing the bulbs begin to appear and trees in bud.......we even had some sunny days and heard the birds singing this week.....
.........love some new fabric to play with......the new tilda fabrics are widely available these days....i bought mine from two great sellers here in the uk....the homemakery and empress mills.........
....love how the patterns are on a fairly small scale which suits my work more than large ones.....
............also this week allllll the heart quilts are being taken out and arranged ready for valentines day next week........below is my very old but very loved strawberry hearts quilt........
.........my little pink sewing table where i spend many happy hours......more hyacinths in the blue and white pudding bowl......delicious to enjoy the scent while i sew.......

Happy February

Happy february dear readers.......we have begun the month with sunshine, hearts and flowers.....
.........this is my heartstrings quilt in the original red white and blue colour way......and here too is my valentine cushion......
..........appliqued and quilted.......
........the flowers this week are mainly tulips and pink primroses.....i recently planted some little primrose plants in latte cups and they are thriving on a sunny kitchen window sill (see last picture for a window sill close up)......
.....such cheery little flowers i do enjoy seeing them each day.......
......we've also seen our first snowdrops outdoors this week and even a few daffodils in bud........
.........the valentine cushion pattern is new in my etsy shop link in sidebar.....
......you can also find a pattern for the love note shown below too......
.....this week we had an outing to ruthin, in north wales and here are a couple of picture of this lovely little old town, surrounded by hills.......we went to the ruthin craft centre to see several very interesting exhibitions (if you're interested you can follow the link to see what's on....well worth visiting)......
.....later we had a wander through the old streets and came upon a tiny wool shop which was like a brambly hedge drawing inside.....shelves stacked up to the top with knitted items and yarn, baskets and boxes filled with colourful wool, and knitted scarves and hats hanging up....i *might* have bought some sock yarn :)
......love visiting old places like this, so full of history and beautiful interesting buildings......and below is a close up of the primroses on my window sill this week........

......thank you for dropping by to see me here lovely readers and a special thank you to everyone who leaves me a kind comment.........wishing you a happy month ahead with flowers and sunshine and plenty of crafty inspirations.......take care lovelies........peace and love....back soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
