Lots of lovely flowery sewing has been going on here recently.........and lots of sweet blossoms have been filling my tiny vases to help inspire me too.............
...............i began making four patch blocks using mainly lecien flower sugar fabrics and pam kitty morning fabrics, two of my favourites............the first sets of blocks i made into a floating four patch design by adding triangles of white to each block and setting it on point............
..........i love floating four patch quilts....i made one in red and white years ago and still love the effect......here are a few sneak peeks.....
.............i also decided that i loved the simple four patch blocks made up of my favourite pam kitty garden catalogue design mixed with florals...so now i am making a second version of the four patch at the same time!........ i loved this particular print so much that i ordered a lot of it luckily.....
.............i've already backed a quilt with it and made a little bag...........
...............below is the first block of the straight squares repeated design...........
.............more pretty fabrics arrived this week....i am stocking up on more flower sugar by lecien....
...............lots of pretty colours to add to my stash and of course to make many more four patches with for both my quilts...............
.................it's such a lovely time of year with blossom everywhere..............
..............we went on an outing this weekend to a beautiful historic house and garden..........
................it was grey and overcast so not ideal for pictures.....but i took these of the beautiful apple blossom in the orchard..............love the gnarled old trees decorated with lichen.....
...........thank you to everyone who visits me here in my bit of blogland, and thank you for your kind comments dear readers...............wishing you a wonderful month of may with plenty of flowers and happy crafty times..................back soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Helen, it's a pleasure to see how your beautiful creations are so inspired by those lovely apple blossoms! Isn't spring grand. xo
Helen,
What a sweet floating four patch design, and I love the Lecien Flower Sugar fabric line. I have a layer cake of it that I have been admiring, and am trying to decide what pattern to make. I have been hesitating to cut into it just yet. Your little drawstring bag is so very cute. Have a wonderful creative week, as I know you will.
Thank you for sharing.

So lovely Helen!
The white background makes it look so crisp and fresh. x
Oh , I love your flowery fabrics and I could go wild with those fabric lines. Since I've gotten older I adore roses and pink....things I never paid much heed to in my younger years. I think I got inspired years ago when I watched Green Fried Tomatoes and also the lovely roses and florals that seem so prevalent in the U.K. in decorating and of course, Cath Kidson....it opened up a whole new world for me. I adore the 4 patch and putting it on point was not something I knew about...it's darling! You have exposed me to so many lovely things and I've learned from your books and your blog. It's so wonderful that you share your talent with us and inspire so many! Have a great day in the U.K.! It rhymes! LOL!
Happy 1st of May Helen! Your photos are so perfect for today to celebrate spring and almost summer! x Teje
I love the way your patch blocks look with the white, so fresh and crisp. Just lovely. I enjoyed your photos so much today. The apple blossom is so pretty. Hope you have a good week!
Happy May Day to you! Your flowery four-patches remind me of a quilting truth that I believe -- fabrics are everything! Even the simplest of simple blocks becomes outstanding and special with the right fabrics. The proof is in the pudding -- or, in the quilt! :)
Happy May to you too!!Lovely flowers in your work so delicious apple flowers too!!
It is a lovely time of year, isn't it. We have been having white cherry blossom showers this week as the wild cherry tree develops gorgeous green leaves. Thank you for showing us some of your blossoms along with some of your current projects. I especially appreciate the look of your patchwork blocks floating in white. The Sugar Bunny I made from your pattern has been sitting out on the sea chest this Spring. She has such a nice smile, I can't help but smile back at her :) Happy May, Helen!
You can"t really go wrong with flowers, can you Helen...I love them too!
I love both your quilts, the effect of the floating one is wonderful and of course the fabric is beautiful.
Lovely to see the apple blossom too...so pretty.
Wishing you a floral week,

You use such pretty fabrics! It's been cold here :( Hoping for warmer weather so that our flowers bloom.

I am learning from you, Helen, that you can't go wrong if your fabrics are beautiful to start with! I love all the things you made. My lilacs are ready to open and I'm so excited for my big annual bouquet of 3 different colors of them! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
Absolutely perfect fabric and pattern choice, Helen. I'm not a quilter but I know what I love! :) Even the little bag is precious!
Hope the blooms in your garden continue to pop up and make you smile!

Wow where do I start. Thanks for another lovely read. The Rose designs are so English. The blossom is wonderful. Such an inspiration especially as I'm in Spain at the moment. Have a lovely week Helen.

Such lovely fabrics to work with, Helen! The apple blossom is so pretty.
The simple patch quilt, whether four patch or nine patch, has always been my favorite. Of course all your quilts are very special!

Such beautiful little blocks Helen! I love PKM fabrics and 4- and 9- patch blocks are my favorites. Simple is best! It looks like spring has sprung in your part of the world -- have a wonderful weekend!
Helen, I love your quilts. I have never heard of or seen floating four patch quilts. Love the name, it's perfect and your quilts are too. The fabrics are gorgeous, so summery. The flowers are pretty too.
We had the Bank holiday weekend away in a converted barn in the Cotswolds. We visited Broughton Castle, Upton House and Kenilworth Castle which has the most beautiful old parterre garden full of Bellis daisies in gorgeous colours. I thought of you. I took lots of photos and wish I could show you some. You would have loved it there :-) xx
I thought of you last night and fell asleep thinking of what pattern quilt I should make.
Thanks to you, when my gardening is finished today, I'm going to hit my sewing cupboard.
Love, Love all your Works, Helen ....
Simply beautiful Helen! I’m getting so inspired by your quilts, I’m completely new to quilting though. Where do you buy all your fabrics from, especially Pam Kitty fabrics please?
