Seaside Quilt

Here are some pictures of the seaside themed quilt I made for Charlie's first birthday...he is now three and a bit and how the time has flown since then...
I loved making this quilt - I sewed together large patches of red, white and blue fabrics, with a deep turquoise panel in the centre for the sea...then I had fun adding applique images of boats and bunting, a little bucket, stars and badges and flags...
...and lots of flying seabirds giving a feeling of movement across the quilt...

Earlier this week Charlie excitedly showed me his new big boy's cabin bed, complete with little ladder to climb up and underneath the bed is a play tent with red gingham curtains... and his little seaside quilt still fits his new bed. I'm working on a seaside project again today, doing a summer magazine project - it's a theme I never tire of...
Thank you for visiting me here, and for all your lovely comments on my newly painted potting shed! I will be out there again this weekend and will take my camera too. So many flowers are popping up, each day something else has unfurled. I wish you a happy weekend, full of sunny days, spring flowers and crafty times. Back soon. xxx

Oh Helen, it's beautiful! When I look at something like this, I immediately think of an heirloom, and how Charlie will have this forever, and that it will be passed down through generations. It's a wonderful thought isn't it! Love Vanessa xxx

I love all the little strings of flags flying...I can just imagine a brisk sea breeze down at the seaside and Charlie with his bucket and spade building sandcastles while the ships sail past! What a lovely seaside quilt.

That is one cheery quilt! I love red and blue together. Charlie's a lucky little boy, and it looks perfect for his new cabin bed.

Hope the weather stays sunny, looking forward to seeing more pics of the shed.

Truly beautiful quilt. Such a lucky little man to have such a talented Granny. I was delighted to see your rabbit in the recent Woman's Weekly craft issue (at first I thought someone had copied yours and felt quite cross for you!) and really pleased to have the pattern. Hoping to make a little Easter bunny for my two little ones. Was also amazed to see the superb offer for your book in the magazine - how can I resist?! Enjoy your potting shed this weekend. Becky x

Lucky lucky little boy to have such a happy bright sea and boat quilt! I'm a sailor and so this sings to me. Makes me want to run my flags up the mast and sail!

The quilt is absolutely gorgeous, what a lucky lad Charlie is... it's just so right for a boy, what a lot of beautiful handsewing you have done on it!
