Red, White and Dotty

If you like red and white spotted designs as much as I do, then I'm hoping you will enjoy this post! I think it began for me with children's books and the illustrations of red and white spotted toadstools that were frequently included then. I loved them - in some illustrations the little spotted toadstools had tiny ladders propped up against them and the animals - or sometimes pixies - in the stories climbed up and lived in them! They had little windows and doors! As a little girl I longed to climb the ladder and see inside a Toadstool House.
I made a red and white spotty seat cover to go on this chair, which came from my husband's great grandmother's house years ago and has been painted by me several times, and several colours. Now it's a cool white to match the New Bedroom.
And here are some more cute little red and white spotty toadstools - they were all packaged up together in cellophane in a garden shop - and I had to have them. What are they for? I don't know yet, but I'll think of something...Some day they will be just the very thing I need...x

Hello Helen. Yes, I love red and white too, and am beginning to like a touch of aqua blue thrown in for good measure. Raspberry reds are gorgeous as well, but i know exactly what you mean about the toadstools. I so wanted to live in a woodland glade with the fairies! Have a lovely day Helen x

Me too! Always fancied living in a toadstool house! I'd have bought those little red toadstools too and am sure you will find something creative to make with them.

Oh my, I love toad stools too! I had a small wooden one as a child that the red polka dot top came off and tiddly winks were inside. Tiddly winks is a small plastic coin shape game, that you click them together to make them jump! Fun to play as a little person. xo Robin

I grew up on Enid Blyton and I l love toadstools too! I love the combination of red and white with a splash of aqua like Pipany. In fact my little craft room has lots of this mix in it!Loved your last post too, I'm just catching up as I've been decorating!

Thanks so much for your comment on my cards, I love your site so your comment meant a lot.
The toadstool pins are great. Can't wait to see what uses you'll come up with!

I am loving all the white with splashes of colour. I am getting ready to paint my kitchen white, walls, cupboards, everything and I can't wait. I also can't wait to see some of the pictures from your Golden Hands magazines. I had such a 'wow' moment when I saw them here as I have a book 'Golden Hands Complete Crafts' which I have had since I was a child. It was and is one of my favorite books and I must have pored over each and every page many times through the years.
