Sewing Days

Happy new week dear readers......i'm a little late here this week as i've been very busy in my sewing room..........so many things to do at the moment i've been a busy bee.....
...........the weather has been incredibly cold and rainy here for june...........
............so staying indoors and sewing has been easier than usual at this time of year when the garden calls me....
..............i love this pretty jelly roll of bluebirds on roses fabrics by elea lutz for penny rose fabrics....
..........such a shame to unfurl it and cut up the fabrics but it had to be done........
...........i have several projects planned for these sweet fabrics but first i made some quick pincushions.............my littlest grandsons were staying here last weekend and they left some colourful blocks on my table after building towers.....i thought they looked nice with my new fabrics....
........in between rain showers and blustery winds i have of course been out in my cottage garden, even managing a few quilts in the garden pictures.............
..........the current work in progress quilt below is my little plums quilt which is a companion to my little apples quilt (seen above on the picket fence...pattern in my etsy shop)........the spools were new to me vintage ones sent to me by a kind friend to add to my collection...............
...............love these soft colours and fussy cutting the tilda fabrics to make the plums and leaves....
............below is a little garden view of our new table on the patio where we had coffee one day just before the rain began to fall continually............my eldest daughter gave me the pink peonies as she adores them and thought i needed some too x.............
............regular readers might remember the blue and white penmon point quilt i made last year....i love blue and white quilts in the garden...........soon i'll be away on holiday but someone will be looking after the garden for me................i'll be taking a blog and facebook break next week but back as usual the week after.......
.............thank you so much for dropping in here lovely readers and for leaving me such kind comments.........wishing you all a happy crafty sunny time...........back soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

How pretty the plums are! I wonder if you applique them on with a bond backing, or just as they are?

I have sewn for two days (alterations for money) but I did feel better that I was earning money when it was raining outside! The purple palette seems a new one for you - looks nice. Jo x

Beautiful quilt and garden pics Helen ... it is a shame though that there haven't been many garden days and we're almost halfway through June!
Your first photo would make such a pretty greeting card. :)
I do know what you about breaking into new fabric, I'm the same especially with new skeins of yarn!
Wishing you a wonderful holiday lovely lady ... enjoy!!

Ohhh.. your pale pink Peonies are divine!! A local Peony grower is selling them for $1 per stem and my darling husband went out this morning and surprised me with a dozen in shades of red, pink and white ones! LOVE! I adore the quilting on that quilt in the first two photos. Beautiful! Have a great week.
((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Oh so pretty! Love the peonies. I have new bushes and actually got TWO blooms this year! Hopefully next year will be better.. they are the pretty light pink like in your bouquet. I love the purples and lavenders in your new quilt.. adds another pop of color for a different look. Have a wonderful vacation! Marilyn

All of your quilts are SO pretty! I especially love the nine-patch on the wall in the first few pictures. And your garden is just SO gorgeous -- I keep hoping mine will turn into such a beauty LOL!

I love reading your blog Helen.
I love the tilda fabrics and the quilt is going to be unique and exceptional.
I love the applique. I wish I had more time for hand sewing.
I know you will have summer weather soon, and I hope it is not roasty toasty like ours started off to be. Yesterday though, it was gorgeous and in the morning I did some gardening (I never have time) and in the afternoon I had hoped to take my 95 year old peppy daddy to a park just down the road in Brambleton Virginia, but he is a silly guy and just wanted to return to the public library and again search Ancestry . com for a couple of his relatives. We were surprised by a few things... Even though he has been tracing him family since he was 9 years old in the Netherlands, yes, he has everyone listed carefully, we had some ends to tie up.... so to speak.
Still, I would have much rather gone to Brambleton Park. Maybe Friday.
Today I plan to sew all morning and also collect some lavender in my gardens.
I hope you have sunny days ahead

Lovely to see your pretty projects and flowers, Helen. I re-potted some Dianthus plants and a Fuscia on the patio today and split up some Basil seedlings into two little pots. The pink Peonies your daughter gave you are wonderful...I can almost smell them through the screen! Have a good break, making good memories xxxx
