These Autumn Days

These autumn days are beautiful............with a magical golden light softening everything..........
...........we have some pumpkins...............and we have a pumpkin quilt too......
..............inspired by my pumpkin pillow, i've wanted to make a pumpkin patchwork for quite a while.........i chose soft tilda fabrics in ginger and yellow for the pumpkins, lots of creamy yellows and other pretty shades from my stash for the patchwork, cream kona cotton to applique the pumpkins onto, and liberty betsy for bright cornerstones between the sashing and for the binding.......
.................i couldn't resist taking some pictures while we were gardening at the weekend.....the little cobbled paths are all done now.....
.............and the first clematis has been planted.............
.............with lots of other plants on order ready for the cottage gardening to really begin..........
............some tiny rosehips below on the kiftsgate rose which grows over the arbour..........
..............when i was out and about with my elder daughter at the weekend i took a few pictures around our little town.....
.............gorgeous michaelmas daisies in a little park..........
..............and a pretty victorian porch filled with flowers............
..................buying the clematis at the garden centre i took this picture...although i go for pastel colours i know orange can be beautiful too :)..........
............loving these golden days as october rushes by.........thank you for dropping in to share them with me dear readers............wishing you a wonderful week ahead with happy sunny days and lots of crafty inspirations........back soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Love your pumpkin quilt. The colours are so soft they work really well with the orange of the pumpkin.
Autumn is really with us now.

I'm running out of adjectives to describe your gorgeous quilts Helen ... I totally adore your pumpkin quilt, the colours are wonderful!
I think at this time of year orange is a brilliant colour but I agree pastels are going to look so lovely in your little garden. The paths are so pretty, Mr P is doing an amazing job.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful images Helen ... have a good week,

Your pumpkin quilt in the softer colors of autumn is so lovely! And I admired your photo of michelmas daisies -- which are, I believe, the same as the flowers we call asters here in the USA. That's a beautiful clematis -- a different variety from what I've seen here. Your posts always make me feel the need to slow down, take a deep breath and relax a bit -- isn't that delightful? Thank you so much for always inspiring me in so many ways.

Oh your pumpkin quilt is just wonderful.. .the soft pastel oranges and golds love so autumnly! Who would have thought you could mix those colors with the bright cornerstone colors... but they mix so well.... just love it. Every time I see one of your new quilts, I want to get my fabrics out and make something. I just finished a huge strip quilt for my son.. so is now time to take a break and do some papercrafting.... sure do love your little town photos too.... this Fall is just being gorgeous and I absolutely love it! xoxo Marilyn

What a perfect pumpkin quilt, Helen! Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful sense of color and design that I admire and that inspire me to be creative as well. It is exciting to see your garden take shape and to see some of the lovely flowers near you. This past weekend I planted Ornamental Cabbage in three hanging baskets. They are in muted shades of green and purple and do not show up well against the brown paint on the house, but they do look tidy :) I planted a little patch of purple and gold Pansies as well. Happy Week! xx

I love that you have quilts for all seasons. This pumpkin one is so pretty, and not too orange! Glad you had an enjoyable weekend. It looks like the weather is still sunny where you are. These October days are so beautiful. Have a wonderful week.

Helen,
Your little pumpkin quilt is just the sweetest thing ever! How did you keep it hidden from us while working on it? I love the colors, fabrics and how you framed each block as well as the half square triangle border. It couldn't be any better. Your cottage garden is such a delight and I am looking forward to seeing it blooming next spring.
Thank you for sharing.

Bravo on the pumpkin quilt! It's so nice to have quilts that reflect the seasons that you can put out each Autumn. Winter is fast approaching, I know you have several quilts that reflect that season!! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
