Bloom and Grow

The past week has been all about flowers........the glorious sunshine and warmth combined to make everything in the garden begin to bloom and grow.............
.............we had jugs of tulips from the cutting patch brightening up the house........
..............the ones we grew from the bulbs we planted in the autumn are so large, strong and colourful, they are a pleasure to see..........
.................they might even have influenced my crochet colours a bit this week.....
...........the potting shed has been tidied up and some pots of flowers and little signs added .......
............this little potting shed sign and mug wrap are my projects in this month's issue of crafts beautiful magazine which you can read more about here...........
...............the garden themed mug wrap is a nice little project and i will be making more as gifts for gardening friends...........i already like using mine.........
............so many flowers are opening each day and the world is becoming a colourful place again....
...............below is my grand daughter daisy's sweet bedroom.....her windows look out onto a cherry tree filled with blossom............
..........i leaned out of the window above and looking up took the blossom and blue sky picture shown here......one of my favourite things each spring..........
.............our own garden has many more bluebells this year, popping up individually all over the place as well as growing at the bottom of the garden like a real bluebell wood............
...........can you tell i just love this time of year?!..........below is my latest block for my sampler quilt...this one is called viola and it was fun to make with its minute checkerboard piecing......
...........this week we are planning to plant some of the seedlings out......and to enjoy all the new blooms and sweet springtime.........i will do some sewing in the garden and some crochet too....
............thank you for dropping in to my little bit of blog land dear readers and sharing my springtime crafting.......and thank you so much for the kind comments you leave me too x.....i hope you all have a happy sunny week with plenty of flowers and crafty inspirations to enjoy.........back soon xxxxxxxx

Love all your spring flowers and spring pictures with your spring block. Our tulips are growing beautifully right now too. Our lilac tree is budding. Yes, to see the gardens come to life in the spring is a special sight! Thank you for sharing! Especially love your cute mug wrap!

I always enjoy all the wonderful color in your posts. The tulips are bursting with color and so is the block from your sampler quilt. I can't believe how perfectly you've sewn it all together with such tiny pieces. You always amaze me.

Helen,
It is obvious that you love spring and all its wonders. Autumn was my favorite season, but as I grow older I think love spring time the best, watching as everything comes back to life once again. Your pictures are so inspiring as always. Love the beautiful view from Daisy's window and am looking forward to seeing the finished sampler quilt.
Thank you for sharing!

Hi Helen just popping in before my working week starts for a burst of colour and happiness. The quilt block looks great. I have just cut out a pile of scraps to start another single quilt for a friend but on a much larger scale! Jo x

Your tulips are so pretty! Thanks for sharing glimpses of them as well as some of your latest beautiful craft projects. We had a picnic out by the pond yesterday to celebrate Mother's Day, and we saw a Mr. Mallard swimming about in our maze of pond grasses. I will enjoy thinking of you sewing and crocheting as you sit in your garden this week...and hope to enjoy crafting on my side of the pond, too :) xxxxxxxx

A lovely blog post as always Helen. Yes the weather and your colourful garden is very cheery. I'm doing a spot of crocheting atm, I'm making a crocheted owl for my cousin. I was hoping she would like a nice bright cheerful coloured one, but oh no, she wants a beige/mocha one! Hey ho. I'll post a photo on Facebook when it's finished. Enjoy your week & take care

Your post appearing in my inbox this rainy Monday has brightened my day so much! I just say that I do think your blog is my favorite, and I've followed many through the years. I like that you keep things pretty brief, and it's always cohesive, always joined together by the same bright, clear colors that are so appealing. I don't really know how to "do" the colors you use, having always been drawn to darker traditional fabrics and prints. But if I could have a do-over with all my decorating and sewing, I'd choose your style. The thing is, I might just have to get you to come to the American Ozarks to teach me a thing or two about how to achieve your look! :) Can someone truly change their style mid-swim?? Hope your week continues to be bright and cheery and productive in every way.

Helen, I am sure that the colorful tulips are influencing your current stitching. I love the photographs of the patterned jugs of tulips against the background of crocheted afghan squares. Pattern on pattern on pattern!

Before I forget to mention this, I wanted to let you know that when I visited Barnes & Noble last week I asked if they had Crafts Beautiful and the answer was, "yes, we do carry it, but the issue is sold out." I thought that was grand! The new issue (probably May) should be on the shelves now, and I will have another search tomorrow.

Hello Helen! What an enjoyable post.. full of color and joy. I loved the peek at Daisy's dreamy space.. what a lucky little girl.. I could only dream of having such a pretty space as a child. I need to go out and cut some flowers for the house.. one Rhododendron flower can fill a whole vase. LOL! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

I always feel inspired to paint when I see your lovely posts, the colours are so bright and cheery. Your grand daughter's bedroom is delightful, a real fairytale room with the blossom back drop. I like the potting shed sign - although my shed would not do it credit! I currently have toads living there that come in through a hole in the floor. Betty x
