It has been such a pleasure sewing with this gorgeous fabric...it is some that the super talented artist janet bell gave me in the summer......it is printed with her pretty cornflowers and poppies design and i just love it :)...........
........i planned to make some cushions with it, using the effect of the sky at the top of the design as well as an all over floral effect.....and then i decided i also had to make a bunny dress.......this is lolly rabbit who often enjoys a change of outfit............
..............here are some earlier pictures of janet's studio that i took in the summer, showing a beautiful bluebell painting in progress, a detail of the cornflowers and poppies greeting card and tucked into a little space on the window sill among some pebbles is another sweet little flower painting............
.............here is lolly all dressed in her new flowery frock and matching cardi in front of one of janet's paintings....this one is called *st ives deckchairs* and it hangs in the sewing room.............
............. these cushions would be nice for summer time garden furniture too......
.............i had some scraps so i made a pincushion (of course) ............
..............this yarn seemed just the right blue for the matching bunny cardigan................
............and it just needed a red button to set it off.............the painting in the background is janet's *penmon pebbles*..............
.............i love these pure fresh colours.....bright but never harsh and always happy and harmonious....
..............the janet bell gallery is in the quaint little seaside town of beaumaris on the isle of angelsey, and is also online here.....we visit every summer as my husband sails in the regatta there........
...........and we have just booked to go again next year :)..........
...............some yummy yarn in floral shades has arrived here for me this week....i ordered it from artesano and it is gorgeously soft and almost too beautiful to knit with.. it is for a shawl :).......
and finally with other flowery news....we have acquired a greenhouse....recycled to our garden from our elder daughter and son in law's new garden......moved by mr p and now he is making the staging for it......so clever and creative..........soon it will be finished and i am so looking forward to filling it with flowers and seed trays......(i did put a few plants in there during the blustery days last week and they really perked up!)................
..............thank you for visiting me here and for your sweet comments.......wishing you a happy, crafty week........enjoy the good things, dear readers, and strive to be happy whatever is happening out there in the wider world..............back soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxooooooooooooxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

What beautiful fabric and you have done it proud Helen with your gorgeous cushions!
How lucky is little Lolly with lots of pretty outfits! :) Looking forward to see your shawl, I do love Artesano yarn.
Enjoy your greenhouse, I adore mine, I love how it can extend gardening time , getting seeds sown early and looking after your geraniums all through the winter. Even in winter it can be cosy to work in if the sun is shining.
Have a great week,
V x
I love that poppy fabric, Helen, and Lolly is wearing a beautiful outfit! Yummy yarn, indeed. x
Beautiful fabric, Lolly looks so cute. I have bought your book Helen, it is amazing . I am hoping to have a go in the New Year, thank you inspiring me, your work is stunning
Hi what beautiful fabric and lolly looks so pleased with her new outfit.
when you've made your shawl with that fabulous yarn please show it.
In March when me and my husband retire he's going to fit out a new craft room for me. For my card making sewing and crotchet. I can't wait to decorate it out with all the the things I've made.
Helen your blog is so inspirational and brightens up a normally grey monday morning.
Oh Helen that fabric is just so beautiful and absolutely perfect for cushions! They look lovely! Lucky you having an upcycled greenhouse installed that will be perfect for your seedlings! Have a lovely week! Christine x
What pretty fabric Helen and I love that you have used all the little scraps too...lucky Lolly bunny. It's good to see some sunny photos today as it's pretty dreary here. Have a lovely week xx
Dear Helen, thank you for consistently helping us focus on visual beauty and creativity in our world that is often marred by the opposite of both. You must have introduced me to Janet's work, and I am so glad you did. One of her lighthouse cards is perched on my desk now where I can glance up and enjoy it as I type to you. This weekend I brought in many of my geranium plants since the temperatures here are dipping toward freezing. My youngest son got wind of someone who no longer wants their green house and is hopeful he can give it a home here. We will see. Your bunny is blessed with her sweet new attire and your new yarn promises to be a lovely shawl :) I'm also trying to practice and share happiness and care... xx
Dear Helen, how lovely are your cushions! I do enjoy watercolor designs.. and I'm glad you have tickets already for your sailing trip.. I do hope you take a photo of your husband racing this time. I'm loving your new book.. I can't wait to make some of the projects! Your own greenhouse.. lucky you! We need one here too.. hubby winters over all of our geraniums and begonias in our basement landing but it gets a bit crowded down there! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
Helen,
I just love Janet Bell's cornflowers and poppies fabric. The cushions you made with it are just the perfect choice, and of course Lolly bunny looks very special in her new outfit. I am looking forward to pictures of your greenhouse, I know you will have some beautiful flowers in bloom next spring to share with us.
Thank you, Mickie, Indiana
Very beautiful fabric indeed! xx
That fabric is just gorgeous. It reminds me of a set of sheets my grandmother had. I've always wished I could find a set of the same ones again. I love vintage sheets and would enjoy having those. I love all the ways you used that fabric, very creative and diverse!
What a pretty sight among all the falling brown leaves that surround me right now.
That fabric is so pretty and I just love the little bunny and her dress and jacket! I have a greenhouse (not heated) and I love it for getting seedling off to a good start in the spring.
love your cushions, Helen!!!!
happy week, xxx Ale
WOW! That's the most lovely fabric ever!
You have used it so well too - I love the pin cushion - it looks like you've used every last little bit!
I love Janet Bell's work and have a supply of her cards - I particularly like her Llandudno one, having spent many holidays there as a child.
Beautiful fabric Helen, you have really put it to good use. The new yarn looks delicious, it'll make a beautiful shawl.

Every time I look at your blog, I ask myself why I haven't made a cute bunny yet. Once Christmas creating is over, I am going to dig out that pattern and make a few bunnies in colorful clothes.

Hi, another beautiful blog, lovely colours, especially as its grey & drizzly outside. Have just received your new book, its really lovely & even better, no need to go all the way into town to visit photocopiers! hurrah, am busy making a mouse in time for Christmas, will send a photo when she's done! Hope you are having a great sewing day, love & peace Claire & Jessica xx
Oh how beautiful -- I love the pretty, clear reds and blues. And of course, you knew just how to use that fabric -- gorgeous as always!!!
That fabric is absolutely beautiful! It was perfect for the pillows and that sweet little bunny dress - love the cardigan. Your attention to detail always inspires me.
Just gave my husband a Christmas "suggestion." I was telling him how much I'd like a copy of your new book. Now let's see if he takes the hint!
I totally agree dear Helen, we have to enjoy the good things even more now all these horrible things are happening.
I love all those fresh and beautiful colours in this blog! And to have a greenhouse must be so nice, looking forward to see what you will be growing. Have a great and warm weekend, lots of love from Mirjam.
Such beautiful fabric and you always make the most wonderful creations!
Thank you for your sweet comment over at my little blog. I feel your love from across the sea and return it right back to you!
Hugs,
Lin
Such a beautiful fabric! I love it on the pillows, and the rabbit is adorable in the dress with the cute cardigan!
Navy Wifey Peters @ The Submarine Sunday Link Party
So pretty! That yarn is gorgeous too
How wonderful to acquire a greenhouse! All our plants have to be put away in a shed and then taken out every morning during the winter to avoid the frost. We used to have a lovely big cedar greenhouse, but it had seen better days and unfortunately it came down in the "great hurricane" of the 80's.
Such pretty fabric, Helen! And Lolly looks so sweet in her dress and cardigan!
Barbara xx
