In the Garden

There has been a lot of pottering in the garden and in the potting shed here this long weekend.....
.................lots of flowers still to enjoy, especially mallow, geraniums, sweetpeas, daisies, lavender.....some late flowering roses, huge hydrangeas...........
...............and below.....a very exciting flower for us....our first water lily in the pond that we remade last year.......the water lily bloom had been in bud for a few days and then charlie discovered it fully opened and ran in to tell me the good news :).........
................the sweetpeas are still happily flowering and i want to enjoy them for as long as possible..

....................both in the garden and in the house too............i try to keep a nice balance between picking them and leaving some on the canes so the garden still looks pretty.............
.............this year i have grown lots more geraniums.....i put some in a window box at this tiny window by the back door.....they have been flowering all summer, three different plants together making a nice display...............
..................lots of white daisies grow all over our garden but here are some pink ones for a change....
..............the mallow was so tall and the flowers so heavy with rain drops i had to cut some of the branches............i put them in a big glass sweetie jar in the potting shed............
................besides tending my garden flowers i have been crocheting lots of flowers too for my latest blanket.......here are some close ups of the border being worked this weekend..............
................a simple shell pattern that is quick to crochet..............i will show you more pictures of the finished flowery blanket very soon.............
................i loved making this blanket and am thinking of making another one with the same pattern but different colours..............
...............thank you for visiting me here dear readers, and for your sweet comments too, it is always a pleasure to hear from you...........i wish you a happy, sunny, flowery, crafty week ahead.........back soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxoooooooooxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Love seeing your flowers! Your sweet peas look so pretty. I have trouble with them. Maybe I put them out too late and it gets too hot for them? Your blanket too looks so pretty. I need to buy some of those ice cream colors soon:)

I love those sweet peas and those pink daisies ! I wish I could grow them in my garden... Enough place here, but too much wild rabbits who seem to eat almost everything...
About that water lily, as soon as you have one, lots more will follow next season ! You'll have a beautiful view next summer !

Lovely to see more beautiful photographs from your garden Helen... unfortunately it has been too wet to spend much time in the garden where we are! I am hoping to get into the sewing room later though! Enjoy the rest of the Bank Holiday! Christine x

Well spotted Charlie!!
Your garden and your crochet blanket are a treat to look at.
I pulled up the remains of my sweet peas yesterday - no gardening possible today as the rain has never stopped. However, that's a good excuse to crochet and I've just completed a baby blanket (pink) for a friend and done a few Sunburst Granny Squares.
Thank you for being a source of continuing inspiration.

Lovely photo's of your garden Helen! There is still so much colour in yours. I can already see subtle changes that autumn is on it's way.

Your blanket looks beautiful!

Wishing you a good week!

Your water lilly is beautiful, I bet your pond is full of interest with dragonflies and birds being attracted. Lovely geraniums, I love them but don't like the smell!

I am so enjoying your lovely flowers. The very high temps here in south Texas make it very difficult to grow flowers in the summer. I am so crochet challenged. Wish I could fly across the pond and have you give me a private lesson ;-)

Everything is so pretty. Even your potting shed is lovely. We went from dust to a day of blue skies and then to humidity where everything is hazy and mucky. Very oppressive to be outside for very long. Your crocheted blankets are always so beautiful. Best wishes, Tammy

I almost missed seeing more of your lovely flowers, Helen, as somehow I missed this post. Thanks for making the time to share your photo bouquet. I can imagine Charlie's delight in seeing the water lily flower open :) It is wonderful to be able to enjoy our Grand's perspectives on life as they grow! Your latest blanket is a joy to behold! xx

Your blanket is scrumptious and so summery. Your flowers are absolutely beautiful. I have a hard time here it is SO hot. I can't wait to get back North and have a real garden again. I really love that blanket and you know how much I love to crochet blankets...they are my weakness. So many blankets...so little time! LOL! Although you seem to whip through them in no time! I love the edging you're doing too. Hugs.....Sam
