Making Little Maisie

This is Little Maisie....i didn't intend to make another little bunny just yet, but sometimes these crafty things just seem to happen don't they?.........i looked in the blue basket in the picture below during my grand sort out...
.......and i found some arms, some legs, some ears, and a head and body for a little bunny....
...it seemed such a pity not to finish off this project which was almost done, even though I'd planned to do some other crafty things, so the making of Little Maisie took over as my first crafty priority.....i sewed her together and stitched a little face.....here she is resting cosily among the crochet yarn, while she waits for me to make her some clothes to wear.....
....i decided to make a little skirt using this delicious old new flowery fabric (that's it's name, 'old new') ...by Lecien, in 30's vintage style prints......
....and to go with it a little cropped garter stich jumper......i knitted this very simply with a bit of shaping to fit the body and two square pieces for the sleeves....... it was very quick to do and i found some teeny tiny blue dotty buttons to match the little skirt.....
....and soon Little Maisie was dressed and ready to be photographed (this is her best side).....
....not sure if she is helping herself to the popcorn here.....
......she seems very happy here among the sewing materials, and i'm happy to have her company this week as i work on my latest projects for spring magazines....i have lots of xmas things to show you but have been trying to delay them a bit as it just seemed TOO early, especially with all that tropical heat we had last week...the temperature here has now dropped to normal autumn ones and the acorns and fir cones and apples and crispy fallen leaves are somehow right again...hope you are having a lovely week, and thanks so much for dropping in to see me (and Little Maisie).....back soon xxxxx

She's adorable! I remember having a sunsuit in material very like that blue fabric as a little girl soon after the war.

What a wonderful post, Helen: fist there's the bunny-in-need-of-assembly, then she needs a dress, a little cardi... I loved it and I love Maisie!

And it's never too early to show c-things to us :)

Happy day!

Yours,
Mia

Dearest Helen,

Your bunnies are so beautiful and they are responsible for my falling for your charming blog a few months ago. I am, infact, hesitating right now between making a bunny or the doll's quilt in 'Simple Sewn Gifts'. To say I love little Maisie would be a slight understatement.

Hello, Helen
Maisie is a little beauty; the patterned ears were such a good idea. You did tell me we're never too old for fabric bunnies!

Oh you are so right Helen it would have been such a shame not to finish Maisie.
She is such a pretty girl with a pretty name.
I love that 'old new' fabric you made her skirt from, it does have a lovely vintage look to it.
Maisie's little sweater is so sweet too.
I love her, she's gorgeous. :)

Hi Helen,
Maisie is so sweet and I love her clothes. She and my granddaughter have matching sweaters! Love the old-new fabric, what a funny name, but I get it. It must be different to always be working on things so far ahead. I should do that so I'm not always behind the 8-ball. Can't wait to see "C" things although I'm not ready myself. Have a lovely week, xoRobin❤

Oh, I do love Maisie! I love her pink jumper - perhaps you could share the knitting pattern for it in your next book?!! I'm also very interested in what looks like a very upmarket pincushion lying to the right of the fabric. Do I see 'With Love' in cross stitch at one end? No doubt Christmas things will be upon us any minute now - but I know what you mean about too soon.

It's those tall flowery ears that endear Little Maisie to me! She's charming and has grand fashion sense.

Best wishes!

Hi Helen..just loving Maisie..and her 'old new' fabric skirt. What gorgeous colours that fabric incorporates. Maisie looks pretty happy with it too.

Awww... she was calling out for you from the dark inside of your basket.. and you gave her life and brightness. I love her big bunny FEET! They would look cute with a matching pair of knitted shoes to match the sweater.
((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Little Maisie is absolutely adorable. Years ago I crocheted 5 teddy bears, gave them names and wrote poems to go along with them as gifts for friends -- but for the life of me, I can't even imagine crocheting one now. I didn't follow a pattern and just don't seem to have the same creative energy as I did then. :/ Hope your day is great. Tammy

Hi Helen, little Maisie is adorable. It must be having to work on Spring magazines, that made little Maisie jump out of the basket! I just love her clothes too.
Many thanks for your lovely comments, I am so glad you liked my apple wreath header. Have a lovely weekend, love Linda x

How cute is she. Such a fun project. Will she stay, or will she 'decide' to go home with a passing little Miss one day?
