Hello! I am feeling in the pink today - and I do hope that you are too. The post title is really a chance for me to indulge in some delicious shades of pink that I spied around the house and garden .... The pot of dianthus or carnations is one of several I bought to have around me.....I love the colour and especially the scent which reminds me of childhood and my grandmother and her garden, and the 'pinks' she used to have sometimes in a vase in the cool hallway of her victorian house....
The sugar pink rose is newly flowering this week, it's an old rose that was already here when we moved in, I don't know the name but it's very pretty and sweetly scented and doesn't last very long....
...some stitched pink hearts and flowers for a border on a white towel, a project for a book a while ago...
...this yummy pink and white dotted towel, strewn with pink roses and buds is from the delightfully decorative Pip Studio....
...and a little bit of pink sewing going on too, using up some of my long time favourite pink and white candy striped cotton fabric, so crisp and summery especially mixed with white...I've used this candy stripe in lots of projects and it always works so well....
...choosing pink shades of DMC thread for a new design commission...when I create a chart on the computer I check the shade with the DMC stranded cotton shade card, though I know most of them very well and it's like a paint box for me to work with....
..I have a lot of projects on the go at the moment, and have been held up by so many bank holidays - even though I don't have official holidays, being self employed, I do tend to join in with everyone else's! So now I have loads of work to catch up with this month, plus things I want to make for gifts and for fun....so better get busy then...!
I hope you are having a wonderful week enjoying May flowers blooming all around, and the sun still shining (but maybe a little shower during the night for the dry gardens or is that tempting fate too much?) Thanks for dropping in to see me, I love to read your comments, they make me smile. Back soon xxxxxx

Dear Helen, who doesn't love pink! It's so qute and happy colour and always so delicious in flowers! There is something special with the 'colour cards' that I enjoy so much watching them!

Those flowers are gorgous and would be a great subject piece for a painting.
Pink is one of my favourite colours too but it can't beat the colour Red for me. x
Have a great week. Leah x
Pretty flowers - I can smell Dianthus right now!
Can't wait to see how you use the stripey hexagons!

Gorgeous post again, love the pinkiness.... you were so lucky to inherit the garden with such a fantastic rose, but what is the funny one next to it? (not the pinks)
Love the stripes and cross stitching as well :)

Lovely pics. The 'funny' one, crafts@home, is aquilegia or columbine. They're so pretty, aren't they? Abby x
Helen, I smiled when I read about your feeling that you had the DMC colour chart in your mind's eye.
Pink can add so much to so many combinations of other colors. Bright pink against black! Or greyed pink against other subtle colors. Or peony pink can meet with so many greens and ivories and chalky whites and have a fine old time.
Playing with colors is such fun! You are clearly having this fun, even if you might find yourself working on an official bank holiday.
Before I log off, I also just thought about the multiple pink shades that turn up in cosmetics. Oh my!

Dear Helen, that delicate rose in your pretty posy in the sweet galvanized bucket is just wonderful. How lovely, thanks for sharing. Love, Teresa

Wonderful pics as always. Aren't the seasons wonderful too? How the colours change as the blubells fade and make way for the pinks and reds - I'm looking at pink scabious and red peonies as I write this.Thank you for all you share with us. A sewing day for me!

Gorgeous pinks Helen... I've recently been draw to all things pink, not sure why as it didn't used to be one of my favourite colours at all - funny how we change! Your pictures are all beautiful as usual - love the candy stripe fabric and the thread shade chart - so yummy all grouped together like that! Have a lovely and productive rest of your week xxx

Although pink isn't a favourite colour of mine (I don't own any pink clothes), I do love it in nature. Dianthus have the most beautiful smell, just like cloves and I love that old fashioned rose, so pretty!
I love Pip Studio but personally I'm always drawn to their blues. :)

Oh pink bliss! I love those few beautiful blooms in that little galvanised bucket.
A project for a book? That sounds very intriguing!
I love all that pinkness - and I have always had a thing about shade cards!

You can never have too much pink.

I'm with Vivienne Helen, pink is not really a colour I wear or use personally, it is very pretty in nature and also in your lovely sewing projects. These long holidays have been great but I too need to get back into the swing of work, it was my 1st day back today after 2 weeks! Enjoy all the colour around you and keep in the pink!

Hi Helen,
I have just been catching up on your lovely blog. I too love Pink! I always tend to be drawn to it for making!! I don't however wear it!! I too enjoyed the holidays like everyone else but am glad to be back some normality and get some work done!!
Glad to hear you have lots of projects on the go at the moment, I love your latest work for Crafts Beautiful, it is as always just gorgeous.

Thankyou for visiting Helen. I am rather pleased with myself today. I scrolled through some of your posts and just love the Daisy quilt you are making for Daisy, it's traditional skills but with a modern look - just lovely! Love Linda x
Lovely flowers! The pinks are so pretty, and the rose so delicate looking with the pale lemony centre - its a beauty! Such lovely old fashioned flowers, and the roses seem to be flowering early this year - i have some out too.
The towels are gorgeous with the pretty trim you stitched.
Love the little hexagons - I've been hand stiching hexagons recently too, saw a lovely cushion in the background in either CL or similar and just had to have a go at making something similar - they are so quick and neat and satisfying to do - i just need to finish mine off now!
Lovely post!
Thanks for your lovely comment on my blog!
