A Little Bit of Sewing

These are the fabrics I chose this week for a new litttle bit of sewing - one of the tiniest quilts I've ever made in fact...
It is a tiny doll's quilt, to fit a small red painted wooden pram that is for a little girl's birthday....
When I measured the pram I realised just how small the quilt needed to be...and how quick to make too!
I used a blue flowery Trefle fabric alternating with plain white cotton squares and then appliqued red CK floral hearts, which I've just begun to stitch around in red cotton...
... this is a lovely little project, and easy to hand sew, i made it watching a dvd one evening....during the day i've been working on magazine projects....
... this is my project for this month's Crafts Beautiful (June issue) - a sewing notebook, combining my love of sewing, stitching, paper crafts and collage - I loved making this sooo much....
...it's strawberry time again here...i think the colours are influencing my work this week too...we've had some lovely sunny days, despite the weather breaking and lots of much needed rain too which has freshened up the garden and brought out lots of new flowers...i hope you are having a wonderful week, with sunny days, spring showers (only at night!) and lots of sweet flowers and strawberries ....thank you so much for visiting me here and for your lovely comments......i'll be back soon with lots of flowers xxxx

It's great when you get a small size project Helen, what a lovely doll's quilt you are making a what a lucky girl who is getting it. Apparently this year our strawberries will be the best ever due to our lovely weather..and still the sun shines. Have a crafty week in the sun,

That quilt is SO cute! I saw a 'princess and the pea' set in a shop window today - a little wooden bed with a tiny fabric doll in it, covered with lots of little quilts!

A lovely little quilt, Helen. Super fabrics and the hearts finish it beautifully. We are looking forward to some sweet strawberries from our patch soon too, but ours are a few weeks away yet I think.
Will look out for the magazine - that looks a cracking little project, just up my street.

Hello Helen,

That is one beautiful project, and I am sure the little quilt will be treasured by MANY little girls, it looks like a little family treasury! But what I really LOVE is, is the sewing-notebook project, looks fantastic! I wish we would have all the magazines available around here.

Enjoy your strawberries!

Yours,
Mia

Dear Helen, quilts have scared me, but the thought of doing a little one like this gives me hope.. I'm not afraid of hand-sewing. I might need to make a pair of these for my granddaughters! Hugs, Teresa

Love the book in CB mag - especially the tape measure idea - well worth chopping up a cheap one (or a free one from a certain furniture store!)Don't you just love pin cushions - particularly your toadstool!

Hello Helen,
My name is Carole & i live in Rossendale, Lancs. I regularly read your blogs. It is so clean, crisp & refreshing, if you know what i mean! I love it! I`m off to the shops for Crafts Beautiful Mag (June) to have a look at your project. I missed the May edition :-(.
Thanks for a brilliant blog.
Love Carole from Rossendale xx

I can see it's getting close to summer there with strawberries ripening, flowers blooming and sunny warm days. Your fabrics reflect the season and the little quilt is divine..I really like the way you stitched around the blanket stitched hearts too.

That quilt is too cute, love the way you combine the fabrics, just gorgeous! I find seasonal colours influence me too, at the moment I have a real thing for spring green, pink and cream , all spring like colours.

love that little quilt ! especially the tiny red hearts. how do you cut them out so perfectly ? mine are always a wee bit lopsided. i guess you must use a tiny template from somewhere.....
I like the idea of hand sewing a little quilt, on my lap, in the evening or in the sunshine should it ever come back. oh I do hope my new grandchild will be a little girl and then it's flowers and hearts and pink all the way!
