Happy new week everyone.....we are having a happy scrappy hexie post today......
...........i love english paper piecing, especially using the hexagon shape, and enjoyed sewing this hexagon flowers quilt in seaside colours....it was a real pleasure to see it published as a project in the lovely handmade (australia) magazine.....
.............beautiful photography and styling by the magazine......
.................such a simple shape to use but visually always fun, both the graphic effect of the pattern itself and the way the scrappy fabrics blend and combine when the quilt is folded or crumpled..........
...........the issue this quilt is featured in is vol 36 no. 8 and you can visit the website here.....
..............there are some hexies being made here at the moment too....do you remember my blue and white hexie quilt begun last year?............
..............it is going to have lots of hexie flowers in the border..............
.............and i have raided all the blues in my stash to make them.....
...............below is the centre of the quilt which began with one hexagon flower..........
............i enjoy deciding what to do next with quilts like this one, allowing the design to develop by itself as inspiration strikes! :)..............
..............we have enjoyed some lovely walks here whenever the sun shines and saw these cheerful early flowering daffodils in the local park.......i am going to plant some early varieties here next autumn.....
.............and now dear readers it is time to announce the WINNERS of my recent giveaway.....thank you to everyone who took part and left me such sweet messages...i wish i could send each of you a giveaway gift....but only two could be picked and they are mickie (indiana, usa) and jo of three stories high............congratulations lovely ladies, please email me your postal addresses and i will send your lucky dip packages to you.............there will be another giveaway here very soon so look out for that.......xxxx

Congrats to the two winners. What lovely colours for the quilts. Natalie
ReplyDeleteI love hexies, they were one of the first things I did when I began learning to sew and I still find them relaxing and producing beautiful designs. x
ReplyDeletecongratulations to your winners, your red hexies are zinging with vibrant colour, lovely combination.
ReplyDeleteHelen,
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, tears came to my eyes when I read that I am a winner of your generous giveaway gift. I could not believe my eyes and had to read it twice. Thank you so much and I will email my address as soon as I close here.
As always I am in love with your beautiful blue and white hexie quilt and cannot wait to see the finished product. I keep saying I will attempt EPP again and hopefully I will do that this year. Right now I am finishing the binding on a quilt for my husband who has told me it is too pretty to use. As I told him that is why I made it!
Than you once again, Helen. I am looking forward to a wonderful surprise coming soon to my mailbox.

I love your hexagons especially the colours. The blue is so fresh. Im doing an insanity quilt at the moment using 1/2 hexagons.
ReplyDeleteCan I say congratulations to Mickie and Jo.
I love the colors in your hexie quilt. I so admire your work. I tried working with fabric but seem more in tune on yarn projects. Congrats to the winners! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteLovely quilt design using white as a border there. Hooray! I am looking forward to putting some of your fabrics in my quilt. Been a bit miserable of late so I feel really lucky today. (Big Grin) thank you. Jo xx
ReplyDeleteAnother great week of favourite colours and designs. Thank you Helen. Congratulations to the very lucky winners this week. Happy sewing everyone. Spring is on it's way - the catkins were showing their beauty today!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the winners, and to you for that oh, so pretty hexagon flower quilt in the magazine. Spring is slow to show up here, but it's just the end of January, so we shouldn't rush it, I suppose. So much rain.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to your lucky winners. And, congratulations on your beautiful quilt appearing in a magazine, lovely summer colours for Australia, and we need pretty colours and warm quilts here now too. Happy weekend Helen XX
ReplyDeleteHi
ReplyDeleteI would really like to make this quilt but I can't get onto the magazine website to view. Does anyone have the pattern for this?
Thank you
