September days are special for me.....they always seems like the start of new and positive things and exciting possibilities.........september makes me feel nostalgic for schooldays and my first days at college..........
...........and my first baby was born in september ......quite a while ago now ;)......
...........i love these cosy days when we do lots of gardening and then come in for a cup of tea....and make some soup and a plum or apple crumble in the aga.....
........this is the little mushroom pillow i've been making this week....it is from the pattern in my book *modern vintage gifts*...........
..........this one is having lots of quilting and some extra embroidery too.........
..........sorting out some plates....sorting out some other kitchen bits and pieces....
..........lots of apples from friends and family......we don't grow many but i usually have enough for plenty of crumbles.....
..............some days have been cool and grey but some have that spectacular september sunshine and blue sky highlighting the berries on the rowan tree............
.........i've started collecting my two older grandchildren from school again some days each week....it's so nice to have this time with them, to walk home together and hear about their day and all their news......
..............the pretty roses below were a gift from a lovely friend and the other flowers came from the garden......
..........here are some pictures of my version of the carousel quilt a pattern by sandra boyle for everyday quilts..........i really wanted to make a quilt with circles and i love this one....more about this coming soon......

Everything is so pretty.
What a nice way to spend September walking your grandchildren home from school listening to what they have done that day. Everything is so new and exciting at that age.
Your pretty cushions quilts and tea towel by your at a really sum up Autumn to me.

Helen,
September is a happy and nostalgic month for me too, with memories of school beginning and summer ending. We are enjoying a beautiful day with a blue sky and puffy white clouds after a weekend of endless rain, wind and cool temps. I pulled up some spent annuals and a tomato plant that gave us huge delicious tomatoes this summer. Need to do more garden clearing, but want to do some sewing this afternoon.
I hope we have a long autumn season, keeping cold winter days away as long as possible.
Your new projects are inspiring as well as the "older" favorites in this post. I love the blue and white patchwork pillow and of course the red and white quilt.
Thank you for sharing.

You create such a lovely life, Helen. I think it's wonderful that you get to see your grandchildren by picking them up from school and visiting with them. And that circle is beautiful especially with a vase of flowers atop it! We're having some misting rain today and I'm so happy as we have been so dry all summer. Enjoy your Autumn!! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

It's so nice to finally have the time to pop in for a visit -- your posts are beautiful as always -- you make it such a happy place to visit. I love September, it's my favorite month (especially this year, we have a new grandbaby about to appear!). I'm so excited you're making the carousel quilt -- it's beautiful and I'll look forward to watching your progress!

Oh that mushroom pillow is darling! I like the smaller size. I need to make one for my (soon to be) daughter-in-law as where she and my son live, there are real live mushrooms just like that! I have your book too, so off I go to look at it! My first son too was born in September, so it's a very special month for me. His 40th birthday was just yesterday! How time does fly. Thank you so much for your bright and cheery posts.. I always so look forward to them! Hugs.. Marilyn
