Flowery Four Patch Quilts

Today i am showing you some pictures of the two flowery four patch quilts i was working on last year using many of my favourite floral fabric scraps (lots of pam kitty morning and lecien pretties in there)...........
............i began making a straight four patch quilt and then decided to make a floating four patch one as well so i was working on two co ordinating quilts at the same time......
 ............here they are together............
............i love the four patch block....such a timeless traditional one but it can look so different according to the fabrics, colours and arrangements.........i want to make a red and white one next for a christmas feel....
............below is the floating four patch on my sewing room wall..........
.............and a close up....the gorgeous swirly quilting was done by talented longarm quilter debbie holland...........
.............. i backed both quilts with polka dots on white..........and both had different stripy binding....
................a few crumpled quilty close ups....you know how much i love those....

..............they are very light and summery designs ...........ready to be put away in the quilt cupboard now for a little while.....
.............meanwhile it's never too soon to get crafting for christmas and here is a cross stitch and patchwork festive cushion which is my project in the new issue of crafts beautiful here......
............there is also a little christmas houses cross stitch ornament to make too............
............thank you for visiting me here this week dear readers, it's so lovely to see you and to read your kind comments......i hope you are having a happy cheerful september and enjoying sunny crafty days......back soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Your very pretty four-patch quilts are so bright and summery. Too bad winter is coming and they will be tucked away. But autumn and winter bring their own beauty and you have quilts for every season. The little cross-stitched ornament is darling.

Nothing cuter than a floral four patch especially when it has Pam Kitty Morning fabrics!! Such lovely quilts and thanks for the inspiration to start some Christmas gift projects.

I always wonder what a professional quilter does with all of the quilts she makes... These are beautiful as usual.

Helen,
There is nothing sweeter than a four patch quilt with a white background, and these two are just darling. I love to crumple a quilt, and I always wash and dry my quilts after they are finished to slightly shrink them and give them a "loved and lived with" look.
I am always amazed at how many crafts you get finished each week and still have time for gardening and looking after your grandchildren. Do you ever sleep?:)
Thank you for sharing.

Dear Helen, I simply love your sweet four patch quilts. In fact I started a little quilt with some of the very same fabrics you used in your quilts. I'm calling it my (Helen Phillips quilt)! Thanks so much for all you share on your beautiful blog. LINDA IN OHIO USA

I love both the quilts and think it's neat you worked on them simultaneously. My favorite is the connected corner colorful patches. I also love the swirly quilting.. bravo! The 4 house cross-stitch is adorable, too! You are amazing! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Just enjoyed your last post as well as this one, Helen. I like the back to school feeling of September, as well, and am so glad you have the joy of nearby grands to collect after school some days. My youngest son has a birthday mid-month and this year we celebrated his 43rd [!] birthday with dinner at a nearby Inn. Thanks so much for comparing your two lovely quilts in this post. I like them both and am fascinated with how the placement of colors on white produce different but equally delightful patterns. Happy crafting! xx
