Cosy Cottage and Ruby Rabbit

I love making toys, especially rabbits......this is ruby the big rabbit that i made a few years ago from the smaller pattern in my book simple sewn gifts........i enlarged the pattern by150% so she is quite a big bunny...........she has been so well played with by my grandchildren that she needed a new dress and a bit of a tidy up........
...........i knitted her a dress, and made her a little hat.....i haven't got a pattern for these as i fitted them to her as I knitted but i might write one at some point.........do you like ruby's little antique plate (or porringer as i think they are also called....a lovely old word).......my daughter rosie and i found it at the antiques fair in beaumaris last weekend...........
............in my last post i mentioned that i took lots of pictures of the cottage interior as it was so pretty......so here are some pictures to share with you.............the front view of the cottage which is called beau cottage and dates back to the eighteenth century...........you can find out about renting it here............
..............downstairs in the cottage...........so cosy yet plenty of room for a family..........
..............the long table where we had most of our meals (we went out for a sunday roast)......cosy lounge to relax in.........such pretty bedrooms :)..............and one had a patchwork chair :0...........
...............on the top floor such sweet children's bedrooms and a book case full of children's books as well as a doll's house filled with tiny furniture and sylvanians...........
..............i loved this cottage so much and hope we can stay there again.....though it is very popular and already booked up for when we plan to go next summer...........
...............besides providing everything we could need, the owners had left us a huge delicious cake and some wine..........so kind..........when mr p and i arrived in angelsey we first drove to see our favourite view of the lighthouse at  penmon............the sea was grey and rough and the air was icy cold....we had a car picnic and then took a little stroll, well wrapped up but it was still freezing......and then the sun came out and i took a few blue sky penmon pictures as i usually do when we go there..........i rather like the moody grey ones too, and the sight of bright berries and autumn foliage growing there....
..............my daughter, son in law and little grandson arrived on saturday morning and we had such a lovely time with them, including rosie and i having a nice mooch around the shops.....we loved the janet bell gallery....it looked so pretty and festive...........we got some christmas presents and some cards and met lovely janet herself there and had a quick catch up...........if you live near enough do visit the galleries they both look so gorgeous and are filled with treasures........or you can visit online here.............
.............we got home to a very busy week with work, family and lots going on.......it got very frosty and icy here so i have enjoyed knitting by the fire in between all the busyness........
.............love little rabbit faces and how each one assumes a personality............there will be another big bunny along soon i think...........
............also making sewing notions as extra gifts for some of my dearies........this little pincushion was made with minick and simpson miss scarlet fabric after i finally unfurled the jellyroll.......love red and white or red and cream.....
..............thank you for dropping by dear readers and for your kind comments...........i hope you have a happy cosy week with plenty of time for crafting.........off to spend time with my lovely mr p now as it is his birthday today :)...............back soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Your little holiday cottage is amazing, I don't think I would have wanted to leave, especially if they had Sylvanians!! :)
Now as you know I am a blue sky kind of girl but I agree there is something about a moody sky.
have a lovely week my dear,

Thank you for sharing some vacation pics. I would love to stay in that cottage! My husband and I have started staying in B&B's when we travel. Much more personal than a motel.
Your bunny is so cute and I love her dress and hat! Have a great week, Helen!

Happy Birthday to Mr. P, enjoy your day together! Love this big bunny and the new clothes, I can see the children would adore playing with him. The cottage where you stayed is so pretty, it's perfectly fitting for you, dear Helen, including the patchwork chair. Glad your family had such a nice time there.

Please pass along Happy Birthday wishes to Mr P.

I can well understand why folks who stay at that fabulous cottage would wish to return. It seems like everyone's dream holiday cottage brought to life!

Ruby is so filled with personality...and she certainly likes to pose for photos, too. Her new outfit is adorable. I'm imagining your grandchildren might have some similar outfits? The knit cap with ears is such a witty idea.

That checkerboard pincushion is a gen. Every square adds a certain something. I've been knitting some gifts in red and cream cotton yarn and have really enjoyed using that combo, too.

Helen,
Oh my, you out did yourself with this post. I love each and every picture. What a wonderful cottage to spend a relaxing weekend, and what a lovely shop to browse and shop in. I love little Ruby and her new dress. Would love to have a pattern for it. As I mentioned in my comments on FB, I am working on a quilt today with fabric called Little Ruby by Bonny and Camille.
Thank you for sharing.

Ruby looks gorgeous in her new outfit! And as for the porringer....I have one from when my children were born....it's a Peter Rabbit one and I love it. Sadly none of the other Peter Rabbit pieces survived.....china and little children don't really work well together ;)

Hope you both have a lovely day together x hubby's birthday. The cottage is delightful, it looks so clean and fresh - a colour scheme I didn't expect to see in a rental - they must really take good care of it. I would love to stay there that's for sure. I am sipping tea from my Hill Top mug that you sent me, I use it every day and love it. Ruby is looking lovely in her new clothes. When I read your posts I always feel creative - it's the colours!!! makes me feel like painting (and eating) jammie dogers today :D

What a truly lovely bunny, and I did enjoy the tour through the cottage...I think my English ancestry (though more than 230 years since they left olde English shores!) longs to visit.
Have a warm and stitchy week, Helen. xx

Your work is beautiful as always, Helen. I love Ruby, she's very sweet. Your vacation cottage looks lovely! It sounds like you had a very nice visit. I loved seeing the baby plate too; I have a similar one with Bunnykins figures painted in the bottom. It's not really antique, only about 45 years old, but it belonged to my husband's older brother when he was a baby. He died before I met my husband so I'm very glad to have something from his young years. I hope you have a good week ahead, Helen.

Your holiday cottage is decorated just as I think you would like, with lots of white and pretty prints. How lovely!
