Flowery Things

A few weeks ago i decided to make a crochet project bag using some of the yarn left from my first ever big bright crochet blanket that i made last summer..........as you can see i made the bag with simple granny stripes....
..........and lined it with a sweet tanya whelan rosy aqua print....i also lined the strap with the same fabric.....these flowers are from my cutting patch....some of them turned out to be a very bright orange (unexpectedly)......
.........when i'd begun to make the project bag i decided to have lots of crochet flowers on it, and made some simple ones in matching colours...............and then i found i had won a surprise giveaway over at green rabbit designs, from my lovely long time blog friend vivienne.....three lovely flower corsages.........perfect for pinning on my coats, cardigans....and  especially on my new project bag too :) ....i was delighted ..... vivienne is so talented at knitting and crochet and makes some lovely things...you can find her shop here.............
.........thank you again, vivienne :)............. here is the biggest crochet rose corsage pinned in place and matching so well.......
...........some flowery cross stitched china is next....this is my little vintage kitchen design made recently for a  crafts beautiful project...... i decided to mat the little design on card to make a hanger rather than framing it........this is a good inexpensive way to show small pieces of needlework...........the pinny hanging up with it was a gorgeous birthday present...........
...........lots of charts and patterns are now available to download for free from the craft beautiful site, including ones from earlier issues, so have a look if you'd like to see what's available here.............
............this is my set of beautiful new cards from the talented painter claire leggett, who is also a long time blog friend of mine (her blog is paint drops keep falling)...........i love claire's work and ordered a set of her new cards as soon as i saw them....in fact i was the first person to do so and claire  kindly sent me some special extras to celebrate...some lovely fabric, buttons and ribbon and a sweet print....all of which i will show you soon........the card pictured above is from a painting called 'tea at the pavillions' .........
.........this one is called 'teatime'...........i think they are all lovely and if you would like to see more of claire's work her online gallery is here................
.........off to work on another project now......i have several on the go as usual, and as long as i keep working on them all a bit at a time that's fine......work projects in the day......things just for fun in the evenings and weekends.........each one in a special bag like my new one :)  ......i am working on something for a giveaway and soon it will be ready.............wishing you a wonderful week.........back soon xxxxxxxx

I love the crochet bag, it so reminds me of one my dear Mum made me when I was little, although in different colours, the flowers really add something to it. I love the paintings (cards) as well :)

Oh Helen, that crocheted bag is just THE loveliest! I've just finished the back of a cushion cover in similar colours - was going to post about it, but think I may just need to turn it into a bag instead!
Thanks for the inspiration :-)

Lovely post Helen. Your crochet bag is wonderful and Viviene's crochet flower adds the finishing touch. You are so accomplished at crochet now and to think that not so far back you was a beginner! I look forward to see the other projects you have in the pipeline. x

Dear Helen,
what a beautiful post! I love your crochet bag - the colours are so nice! What a lovely idea to use the nice fabric for the inside. And thank you so much for your kind comment. The fabric I used for the heart is from "Tante Ema". I love her fabrics. Have a lovely week. Hugs Nicole

Everything you do, Helen, is finished to perfection. I might be able to crochet the bag, but my sewing skills are non-existent. And I don't know why I can combine every color imaginable in my own home, but can't seem to choose colors for craft projects. Your cross-stitching is so very pretty. What kind of glue do you use to tack it down? Claire's work is so very lovely -- she has the same last name as my cousin's husband. :) Hope your day is great. Tammy

Gosh, Helen, I remember crocheting a bag similar to this when I was a teenager. Mine was made out of granny squares though. This really does bring back some memories. I love the way you've made yours stripy though. Lovely.

Your bag is just precious! I love it! I made one felted bag but I love the granny stripe! I also like your flowers and your friend's corsage.
Your cross stitch design is darling! What a pretty design. Your REAL flowers are so pretty too. The high temps and drought here have been tough on everything.
Catching up on all your progress!
Was that knitting I spied in your new bag? What are you making? I just started knitting in the last year and still learning but enjoying it.
