Jack Rabbit

This is little jack rabbit, a new bunny for our collection, this time with a slight vintage feel......i had already made him but not finished his outfit when we discovered the toys in granny's attic last week......and i found this very sweet old fourth birthday card with a similar bunny illustration on it.........
........happy little jack, with lots of new old toys to play with..............
...........and  what a happy jack rabbit with new old blocks to play with underneath the union jack bunting........the beautiful vintage style blocks are of course from the delightful chipper nelly here.......
.............i made the little blue jacket from felt and then added applique patches made with rubber stamps on scraps of fabric with bondaweb ironed on the back.....i ironed them on to the felt and added a few little stitches too..........
............the buttons are vintage linen ones from a card found in granny's attic......the little suitcase and london bus belonged to mr p, and so did the lovely little cart below..........it can be wound up at the back to play a tune....it seems very old but no one knows where it came from...........
........i am already fond of jack, he seems a cheery kind of a rabbit and i think he will enjoy this summer's special celebrations over here in old blighty :-)
......many months ago i was commissioned to design this jubilee sampler by world of cross stitching magazine ...at the time it seemed such a long way off, but it's out now in the shops :-)....you can find more crafty cross stitch here..............
..............some cakes i made this week, i love the little flags and the cupcake cases are (pretend) printed pound notes...they come in blue or red......i have to admit i am loving all the red white and blue and i'm also mixing it in a little with some other colours for new makes......
........thank you for all your comments and emails on my last post, it was so lovely to be able to share the vintage things i found with other bloggers and hear about their own experiences and thank you too for the kind words about my sweet mother in law.......
.......wishing you a wonderful crafty week, hope the sun shines and the birds sing and all is happy where you are....back soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Love your new little bunny! His jacket is so cute.
We are having a dreary and rainy Monday here. But we needed the rain for the garden, so I can't complain. I just did a lot of planting so I don't have to lug the hose around. Yeah!

Little Jack is very cute and looks great surrounded by all those lovely old toys. I just saw your previous post of the attic clear out. Wow! Those metals toys and tops are so sweet. Everything made these days is synthetic or plastic. Looks like you found lots of wonderful treasures stored away in your MILs house. Wishing you a great week. Tammy

I was catching up on the posts I have missed too. Your finished quilt is wonderful, I love the red stitching. You have a job on your hands sorting out your mum-in-law's things, but how lovely to find all those lovely old toys, and pretty bits and bobs, and how lovely for you to have keepsakes and mementos, to remind you of your dear mum-in-law.

I shall look forward to your next post with anticipation, much love Linda x

So nice that you are putting them to good use and getting so much from them after all this time. Those Union Jack cakes are fab too! I was in Bath yesterday and there were some gorgeous Royal Jubilee cake toppers, I resisted but only just! Your sampler design also looks wonderful, I don't know how you fit so much into your days/weeks! Have a great weekend xxx

Oh, Jack is SO sweet! I love that you pay such attention to details on everything you do. I also love that jubilee cross stitch sampler. I'll jave to see if I can get it. English cupcakes are so pretty. Where you get those little things you all seem to put on top of them. In your case, the flag. But I've seen hearts and flowers and stars. They're so cute and I've never seen anything like that in the states. We only have sprinkles. I'm going to have to find out how i can get some or make some as I think they are just dandy! And your cases too are pretty. I did mange to find some colored one the other day and some pretty polka dot ones so we're coming along over here! LOL! Everytime I see something I love or admire it's from the Isles...I think I'm seeing a pattern here! LOL! I have to go visit your links now and see if I can get that Jubilee Sampler book.

Helen, I absolutely adore Jack rabbit. He has such a smiling welcoming face and his clothes are perfect. He looks very much at home amongst the vintage toys. The tin clicky clacky music box brings back so many memories and the cards do too. The little cart is so pretty. There is something very comforting about seeing old vintage toys. They tap into dim distant rosy tinted memories :-)

I love the little crown stamp appliques. Can I please ask you where the crown stamp is from? I have tried searching for it but have had no luck. I would really appreciate it.
Warm wishes Angela
