Flower Patch

The flower patch quilt is steadily coming along, stitch by stitch.......there are just four applique flowers in the centre.....the rest of the white squares i've left plain to show off the flowery fabric patches....though i have dotted a little butterfly here and there....................
..........after a day working on the computer or on drawing and painting, it's nice to pick up a needle and thread and do some of my quilt in the evening...........very soothing and a bit addictive......just one more patch.......
.....as you can see there are lots of butterflies fluttering over this flower patch...........
                                                                              ....one more.....
.........here's a view of the flower patch quilt spread out on my desk......with a big bright chicken bringing a seasonal feel to the picture.....(it's a very useful chicken money box, that i'm putting all our loose change into)...
...........besides finding things to decorate the house with for easter i've made some more little hearts as gifts...
...........they're not finished yet, i was waiting for some gingham ribbon to arrive and now it has, so i'll be sewing it on and adding a few buttons too..........hope the girlies they are for are not reading this ;-)
.......here is a picture of a real flower patch......a bit of my garden that i am filling with flowery plants....i have got all sorts of things planned to go in here, some grown from seed, some ordered from a special nursery, some from our local greengrocer's and some from a car boot sale....i love to pick up plants anywhere and everywhere....
...........these are a few snippets from the flower patch, in one of the little bottles from my tiny crate of six....except that it is no longer a crate of six as one little bottle got BrOkEn last week :-( ...........if anyone knows where you can buy just one of those little bottles from do please let me know...my email address is on the sidebar :-).........
Thank you for calling in to see me today, it's always a delight to have your visits....wishing you a happy spring week......we are looking forward to the easter break and have already cracked open the first mini eggs.........i hope to be back here before easter though so see you soon   xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Dear Helen, your quilt is going to be so beautiful, sweet and lovely - so much like You! Often I think how every one of us has so clearly her own 'look' even we make perhaps similar things and get ideas and inspiration from each others. I just love your style! Always you know to add just the perfect small details in your photos and lovely decorations!
I wish you wonderful, sunny week! x Teje

The quilt is lovely. You must have so much patience to hand sew all those pieces together and then quilt it by hand too. Very pretty! xx

Your patchwork quilt is so beautiful, I love the little butterfy details and of course all the lovely fabrics. It's such a shame one of your bottles got broken - hope you can find a replacement without having to buy a whole new set (though then you would still have one missing wouldn't you?) Anyway hope someone can help! Have a lovely rest of your week Helen, those flowers look beautiful together by the way. You have a really pretty garden :) Jenny x

Helen, Just a lovely sweet flower patch quilt! Colors, fabric and appliqués are just so special. Love the butterflies too. I love to put little details on projects also, it really adds that extra uniqueness! Love your real flowers. Hope you can find another little bottle, I hate when that happens. I have a similar situation. Have a great week. xoRobin❤

Your quilt is beautiful Helen, I love the little butterflies. I suppose 'one more patch' is the equivalent to 'one more row' of knitting or 'one more round' of crochet, we all do it!! :)
I buy my flowers from all sorts of places too!
Such a shame about your little bottle, I hope someone can help!
Have a lovely week,

Oh Helen, your quilt is simply beautiful and your hand stitching so neat.

Your garden is looking so pretty and colourful too.

Shame about your little milk bottle - I was also going to mention dotcomgiftshop as being worth a look for a replacement.

Hello dear Helen! A lovely post as always! I love your gorgeous patchwork! The butterflies and flowers are so sweet and I love the beautiful fabrics! So cheerful! I love how you used red (or is it pink?) thread for the quilting! It really stands out beautifully! I would have never thought to do that. I love it! Your chicken is the sweetest thing! I have never seen one like that before. The hearts are so pretty and your friends will love them! I love your beautiful garden! It is so much fun to get flowers from here and there! I hope you find a little bottle! Your posy's look so pretty in it! Have a very Happy Easter! Much love, Paula xo

I am fond of hand quilting as it looks so much nicer than machine made. I find it rather a mechanical looking process to see machine stitching on a quilt. This quilt is lovely.

Hello Helen

Oh I do love coming to your blog - it's been a while since I pootled about in blogland and Ive missed your colourful posts. Your quilt is beautiful, I recently bought Jane Brocket's quilt book as Ive long had a yearning to try and make one for myself. Between her lovely book and your gorgeous blog I think i'll bite the bullet and start searching out some fabric! Thanks for the inspiration, lots of love and Happy Easter to you!

Your garden is full of colour. Do I spot a beehive?! Are you a bee-keeper as well? My husband is considering becoming one.

I wish you and your family a Happy Easter! Hope the weather will be fine so that we can spend some time in the garden too.

Wonderful colour choices as always - I wish I could drag you to the fabric shop to help my pick for my projects. Your choices are always so uplifting and inspiring. Ah well, I can't start another major project until I finish my current waiting list :) So its probably for the best I can't kidnap you for fabric shopping outings!
