Tilda Jubilee Fabrics

Hello again dear readers......we have just returned from a lovely spring walk, enjoying fresh air and daffodils and even early blossom..... and now i want to show you what i've been sewing with these exciting new fabrics.....

........the tilda jubilee fabrics are designed to celebrate 25 years of tilda.....amazing.....and i've certainly sewn with a lot of the fabric collections over the years.....the cushion shown here is my circus cushion which i originally made years ago in the original paler circus fabrics.......i loved making the new version in the brighter colours.....

........and now i've written the pattern for it and you can find it in my etsy shop link in sidebar.....

.........the jellyroll looked so pretty i didn't really want to unfurl it but i just had to :)......

.............because i wanted to use it for a new version of my cottage garden quilt shown below.....

...........i'm also using some fat quarters and kona cotton solid......

...........and some of the accompanying blenders are just right to use for the flowers.......

...........here's a lovely little stack of blenders.......such a lot of fabric fun going on in my sewing room....

.........and here are some real flowers.......some kind friends who came to dinner brought us a tray of colourful primroses this week.......

...........gorgeous bright little flowers filling our pots with spring...........

Favourite Four Patch

Hello again dear readers........here is a new version of my favourite four patch quilt......

.........this one is made with red and white mainly moda fabrics and kona cotton solid in white.........

..........lots of red and white patchwork hanging up here this week as hubby and i celebrated valentine's day......we had an outing to an art exhibition to mark the day :)

........the original favourite four patch quilt i made was hand quilted, so i decided to do the same with this one too........

..........a tiny taster of red and white patchwork in this postage stamp pincushion........

............another outing this week with my dear valentine was to our favourite botanical gardens at ness.........

..........love the bright camellias with their shiny green leaves, and the blue sky.......

..........the snowdrop walk...........so many growing under the trees......more and more each year we visit.........

............and some cheery little crocus........always so bright and perky on february days......

Sweet Valentines

Hello dear readers........as we are heading into valentine's week here are some seasonal makes to share....this is my valentine cushion, made last year using my favourite colour combination of red, white and blue.....

..........the cushion is shown here with my original heartstrings quilt which was also made in red white and blue (though i've made many different colour combinations of this quilt since then)........

..........there are so many hearts around for valentines but as you probably know i like them all year round too :)......

...........next is my little love note cross stitched pincushion.......this makes a nice little gift  for a stitching friend.........the blue version is one of several i made........

........and here's a new big heart made from scraps of low volume moda fabrics left over from a quilt......

.........the word ribbon is from a whole reel of printed ribbon (you can find similar on amazon or etsy)......

.........here it is without the word ribbon.....

.......... here's a pink heartstrings quilt which will definitely be in use for valentine's week........

...............it's snowdrop time here and they are so pretty brightening up our walks......

Happy February

Happy February everyone!........after what seemed like a very looooong january we are happy to be in valentine's month now.......and beginning with some hearts of course.......

..........the three patchwork hearts shown here are all made from one of my favourite fabrics....fruit label by atsuko matsuyama in the blue colour way..........gorgeous berries and cherries, text and pattern in beautiful colours........

........not much extra decoration needed for these.......maybe a little blue bow and a piece of blue and white striped baker's twine for hanging...........

............they make sweet gifts.....and could be given in a matching drawstring bag which is also good for storage.........the patterns for the patchwork hearts and the dottie drawstring bag are in my etsy shop link in sidebar.........

...........and some more new hearts this week too.........this is my new candy hearts cushion (pattern in my etsy shop as before).......

..........the pink hearts are appliquéd on plain white fabric, and then hand quilted in echoes round the hearts until the whole background is stitched giving a lovely texture..........

...........i've been meaning to make this cushion for a long time and am glad it's now a reality and not just an idea in my head ;)........loved doing the echoes hand quilting too.......very peaceful work on winter days....

............our wintry walks have resumed now the storms have passed...........here is a very wintry tree at the edge of the estuary in the late afternoon sun........

...........and here are some winter birds perching among the bare branches and reminding me of the little cross stitched birds on my old samplers..........

.............the kitchen pots are thriving and the flowers look so bright and cheerful ..........

...........one more blue heart picture.......lots more hearts to come i expect........
