Here, There and Everywhere...

The title of my post today refers to the contents of my studio, which are now spread here, there and everywhere round the middle floor of our house as the new flooring will be put down on Monday....
...so I decided, when the afternoon brightened up and the sun began to shine with that special autumn brightness that it would be a good idea to pop down to the potting shed....
....gathering a few windfall apples on the way as I don't like to see them being wasted, however marked and misshapen they may be....
....some of the tiny geraniums I bought in Ambleside in the spring, and a little slate sign for messages given to me by a dear friend (the fact she bought it from the shop at Kew Gardens for me makes it even more special)...do you find your writing goes funny when you use chalk on a blackboard or is it just me?....
...sunshiney apples...these are lovely cookers maybe I'll use them for an apple cake this time.....
...red berries against the blue sky, something I always love to see, the same way I love blossom in spring....
...a little peek at some studio odds and ends scattered about, some recently discovered....jars and boxes of buttons, (open up a little drawer in a little box and what do you find....some thread, some lace, a starfish and a shell)...a LoT of sorting is required before things go back into the studio again...some old artwork from a folio, shells and feathers was the theme in those days....and containers stuffed with threads, adhesives, and a whole host of bits and bobs.....oh well, after Monday we can begin to make everything orderly again...not long now....

I hope you're having a wonderful weekend and enjoying whatever you are up to....thanks so much for dropping by to my little space, hello to my lovely new followers and to everyone who comments or visits...back soon xxxxxx

  3. Ok, so having workmen in is mayhem, but how lovely that you are finding things you'd put away, and maybe even forgotten you had! So many pretty bits and bobs. And such sweet little geraniums :)

  4. Your "mess" makes my "mess" look like a real "MESS". LOL But you do inspire me to work on my poor piled up craft room today. :-)

  10. Such lovely pictures! The autumn light is wonderful, isn't it? And I had to laugh about writing on blackboards. I have a vintage one on a stand and I like to write a message for every holiday, but my hand writing is so wonky on it! LOL!

  11. Hi Helen..isn't it funny how little unrelated bits and pieces just wiggle their way into drawers and containers..like starfish and lace! Nothing is much better than fresh apples and a nice tasty dessert made out of them on a cool day either. Have a lovely week!

  16. I've also been dazzled by bright red berries and sharp green leaves breezily moving against that particular clear blue sky that signals autumn's coming to town.

This time of year also gets me energized about lots of projects, and finds me sorting through various materials, finding long lost other inspirations as I open drawers, boxes, etc.

I completely identified with this post, except I had to find my little apples at the farmers green market!

  21. Hi Helen, all your 'bits and bobs' look so interesting. It is hard though when you need to clear out, not to be sentimental. Thankyou for your lovely comments, on my last post. Have a great week, love Linda x

  23. Sunshiney apples; what a lovely description! My parents-in-law came to visit last weekend and very generously brought crates of vegetables and apples. It is so wuonderful but I don't know what to do with them all as we have limited freezer storage.

I was a teacher Helen and my writing was always wonky on a blackboard!

Good luck with the flooring and putting away, etc. I hope we get to see some after pictures?

Have a beautiful week; don't you feel autumn has come a little quicker this year?

  24. Good morning Helen,
I hope all is going well with the new flooring today, I am sure you'll soon be having fun reorganising all your lovely odds and ends.
I find writing on an ordinary painted chalkboard is ok but the texture of the slate ones is a bit bumpy.
    Have a good week. x

  27. oohh what a lovely shed you have, ours is taken over by the chickens as it is their house (I would like it back really but they are too nice to evict :-)).

  28. Hope you've had a good day and that your flooring is near completion. I have a blackboard in my kitchen on which I sometimes write menus for guests - the writing looks like that of a six-year-old! I made Apple Pandowdy yesterday - an excellent way to use the lovely abundance of fruit. It's a recipe from a Waitrose magazine. Hope to see a few pics of your 'new' studio.

  29. It looks like we were both having a happy appley weekend.

That has reminded me - I must pick some berries before the birds gobble them all. It's tuning cold!
