Garden Sewing

Hello lovely readers...it's good to be back here after an unexpected week away from the internet..... we had a huge thunderstorm here when lightning struck our neighbourhood and our computer network router was damaged.......
.....we felt lucky that's all it was.....and i spent a lot of time in the garden, sewing projects for work and for me.....including making this squishy tied quilt seat cushion for the wrought iron bench....
..........i cut the squares out using my accuquilt cutter and strip pieced them on the machine....then i backed the patchwork with some pretty striped fabric, placed the wadding inside and sewed up the end......and then used some lovely powder pink petra thread from dmc to tie the quilt in each of the squares corners....
.........it was lovely to spend time in the sunshine with flowers all around and the beautiful sound of birdsong.....but every now and then i had an impulse to look up something on the internet, or to order something, download a book, do my food shop, look at friends blogs.......i was worried about the work emails i'd be getting and wasn't able to answer...... so not quite such a blissful break!.....
..............the first roses opened and many more were in bloom by the end of the week when our new router arrived and was installed.............
................ just a few lilacs are left now...almost over for another year....
...........here is little molly dog under the eleagnus tree where she has been resting in the shade.....her knee injury is improving with rest (mostly in her crate) and she has been so good and patient about it......
..........the rosy pillow is in use again here...i designed this for crafts beautiful a while ago and you can download the pattern for free on their website now....
..........pinning the squares together for another seat cushion, this time for the arbour seat....
...............and doing a little bit of watercolour painting for a floral illustration.....this is the concise british flora in colour...a book i've loved since my student days and still use to identify wildflowers now.......so many different white lacy fluffy flowers in our hedgerows at the moment.....
............and our pretty sweetheart roses blooming against the bluest of blue skies.....hubby has been carefully nurturing all the old roses in our garden and it shows......and as may ends and june begins the garden is my favourite place to be.....
........thank you so much for dropping by dear readers and for the kind comments you leave me.....i am glad to be back here again after my enforced break........wishing you all a wonderful june with sunny happy crafty times.......back soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

We had internet problems, then I had computer problems. It’s amazing how much other stuff gets done when you can’t get on the computer! I love your flowers and your bench cushion. Your colors make me happy.

Everything is so pretty Helen....so many lovely crafty activities going on, I'd love to come round and play! :)
You do get so reliant on the internet, don't you, I know exactly what you mean about having the urge to look something up...it just is so easy to get information quickly....when its working that is!! Glad you are up and running again now. So pleased to hear that little Molly is doing well and recovering...wee pet.
Enjoy that beautiful garden of yours,
V x

Love your garden pics! Such a beautiful yard you have with all the flowers and benches to sit on. Yes, keeping up with social media can be exhausting at times, but then you miss hearing from all your friends and getting a peek into their lives. So enjoy seeing your patchwork pillows - makes me want to drop everything and sew patchwork quilts immediately :)!

Lovely to see your blog post again Helen, how quickly the internet connections have become part of our lives. I love your makes and garden flowers are beautiful after the rain in sunshine. Roses are gorgeous. Little Molly peeping through the flowers is so sweet. And painting with all that inspiration about. Happy week to you Helen. xx

Helen,
So glad you are back with us. Nothing like internet problems when the light bulb strikes and you want an instant answer or to check in on a favorite blog. Sorry to see May end so soon, but our June is beginning with wonderful summery breezes and a brilliant blue sky. Love being outdoors enjoying reading and stitching.
Your garden is just beautiful, I would love to be sitting on your new puffy cushion enjoying the scent of your sweetheart roses. I hope Molly has a complete recovery, such a cute little dog.
Thank you for sharing!

I wish someone would take my computer away for a week, it must be annoying at first and then feel like a vacation. Great photos as always, Helen.

Computers are wonderful. Computers are frustrating. Computers are time gobblers. Computers bring the world to us. Like many things, technology has its pros and cons. I would miss being out of touch for a week! Stitching in the garden on your pretty projects would be a lovely way to while away a sunny morning or afternoon.

So glad Molly is healing well! Your quilting is lovely as always, Helen. In my last post, I asked a quilting question about a quilt I inherited from my mom or Nana. Its construction seems unique to me because it is two patchwork tops sewn together without batting in between the layers, and it has no border...just wondering if that is some sort of named type with which I am not familiar.... The "Concise British Flora in Colour" looks like a treasure of a book! Welcome back to the internet :-) xxxxxxxx
