This is the Vintage Rose bag, stitched and embroidered a few years ago for my book, Cross Stitch Keepsakes....
I love roses, as you probably know (doesn't everyone?!) and at this time of year I just love picking posies of them to have around the house so everyone can enjoy the sweet scent and perfect shape and colour....
Does anyone else carry roses round in a colander? It always seems the first thing to come to hand when I go out flower cutting....also the little spiders and insects hiding in the flowers can make their escape more easily before I take them inside...
A deep magenta rose in a Pip Studio mug...I do love putting pretty flowers in pretty containers....
.... three different kinds of rose in it this time....the white ones are suffering from a lack of rain and going over too quickly this year...they are all old fashioned and highly scented varieties....

That bag is absolutely gorgeous, even more so stuffed with roses, you are so lucky hving so many rose bushes in your garden :)

I made dresses for my daughters when they were younger, but nowadays all my spare time goes to my garden and blogging. Today I finally found some time to make an apron out of some old fabrics :-)!

Dear Helen, your roses are beautiful and so is your bag and garden! I don't have the best luck growing them as I'm not good about sprays and things, but when we bought this farm almost 25 years ago we planted some by the road and I named the place "Rose Hollow Farm". Not long ago my DIL dug up a row of wonderful roses at their house (she hates rose bushes... I know!!) and my son brought them out and planted them on our farm in a sunny spot. All but one made it, I simply cannot wait until they bloom! All are highly scented. I'll let you know what happens. Hugs, Teresa :-)

The patchwork bag is just gorgeous, I love the faded vintage rose prints. Your garden roses also look beautiful - I would love to have a rose garden, but unfortuntely the one and only rose in our garden seems to have died. At least it hasn't bloomed for ages, and is definitely looking sorry for itself!

What a good idea to use a colander! I can't see why anyone would not love roses. All I can smell is the sweet scent of roses every time I walk into the kitchen.

The bag is beautiful Helen. The cross-stitched roses look so realistic. I do love roses. I think my garden needs more of them. Good idea about the colander to allow the creepy crawlies to escape before getting taken indoors! x

ReplyDeleteyour roses are gorgeous, how lovely to be able to pick them at will! At the mo I have only got to rose bushes in flower but I do love them. What a good idea about the colander! I have just bought a lovely terracotta bowl from the charity shop which would be perfect for my geraniums I think!

Mr G always likes what I've painted afterwards,like your hubby. Its the idea of it that he doesnt like - can't bear change!
So I have learnt over the years simply to present him with the finished job (and I would never dare paint anything he definitely likes unpainted)!
